I think teams should start OT possessions at midfield. Starting at the other team's 25 is just too close.
I think a kick-off from the 10 would be cool. A decent return should get around mid-field or better. Make the offensive team have to accomplish something to get into FG range. Plus get these OTs rolling. There is way too much down time in OT. No TV timeouts. 1 timeout per team for the entire OT.

6 of the Top 18 in this week's AP poll and 7 of the Top 21 in the Coaches poll are teams with a loss. Sigh.

5 teams in the the Top 10 AP are SEC West schools. Wonder if that's unprecedented? Not only are half the teams in top 10 from same conference but from same division. That's crazy.

Year 3 into the Charlie Weis experiment, and I'm not sure we're better on the field than we were in year 1. The most damning thing--we're definitely more talented. But the play on the field is not a reflection of that. We have a shot at one more win this season vs. CMU. After that, we're screwed.

Definitely seems that Weis is a great recruiter, but not good at player development.

Is he on the hot seat at all?

MSU should have to earn the 11 spot with some wins after getting buttfucked in the only actual game they played so far this year. Also UCLA has looked bad in every game they have played.

Also you could argue the gamecocks should be lower for having gotten destroyed at home.

MSU is a top ten team. Homer post of the week:)

I'm no MSU homer but they seem like a no brainier top 10 team.

If I had to guess I'd say Michigan State is a pretty good team. They should not be in the Top 25 right now, but that's because of the earliness and the way the schedule has played out.

How is USC ranked ahead of teams like Mizzou or Ok st. Ok st nearly beat the 1 team and has looked good since. USC simply allowed stanford to beat itself and got run over by BC. BC [expletive] sucks.

Didn't we learn in some Michigan State game a couple years ago that the clock hitting zero milliseconds before the snap isn't necessarily a delay of game, by rule?

The clock hit 0 more than milliseconds before the snap in that particular game, but yes, there's some sort of 'justifiable lag time' reason that was given at the time as to why it's not a delay of game right off the top. It generally has to be pretty clear.

It's hard to say. Since we fired Turner Gill after 2 years, boosters may not be willing to buy out Weis after 3. There's a ton of apathy about the football program. We need stadium upgrades in the worst way, but no ones donating for it. Meanwhile they're building a new building for basketball...to house Naismith's original rules.

I'll give Weis credit. At least he works hard, unlike 9-5 Gill. And he saved the team off the field. According to insiders, a huge percentage of guys were headed toward academic ineligibility under Gill. But on the field, the product is still terrible.

If CW goes 1-11 or 2-10, I think maybe he's gone. 3-9, dunno. 4-8, no. He stays. That's my guess.
