Fun with arbitrary endpoints:

Kris Bryant in his last 105 PA (since July 10): 17.1% BB% and 22.9% K%

If we called him and Soler up right now I'm fairly confident we'd play well enough to end up outside of protected pick status.

I honestly think we would, also.

Tonight's HR brings Bryant back to a tie with Joey Gallo for the lead in the Great Minor League Home Run Race. They are both at 37.

I'm just glad Gallo is running away with the other two categories in the Great All or Nothing Race. Gallo's got a 41.7% K% and a 56.3% contact% at AA.

Pretty insane that we've graduated the #7 and #33 prospects in baseball and still probably have the best farm system. I honestly think Soler belongs in the top 10 and Bryant/Russell should be 1/2 since Buxton has struggled since his return.

In the top 100 we have: Bryant, Russell, Soler, Almora, Schwarber, probably Tseng, McKinney, possibly Edwards, Johnson, Torres.

WAAAAAAVES!!

Daytona's rotation next year is going to be packed. Obviously there are always injuries but it'll be interesting to see how they spread the innings. All of these guys have chances to start next April in Daytona:

Paniagua

Tseng

Underwood

Blackburn

Skulina

Torrez

Martinez

Stinnett

Yeah McKinney looks like a huge addition. Still being only 19 and doing that in the FSL is pretty great. That Daytona line-up has to be a bitch to face with all the pitches they take and walks they draw.

It's funny that with all of our hitting, Kane County is the minor league team that is setting the world on fire, because of most of those guys' pitching. I know it means nothing, but I find it humorous.

Does that take into account the fact that everyone is pushed down one spot because of the Astros [expletive] over, I mean, not signing Aiken?

No. 11th place in the reverse standings, 12th pick. First unprotected pick.

I thought the 11th pick, regardless of whether there is a comp pick like the Astros will have next season, is the first unprotected pick. Case in point, the Mets last season.

2012 bonus baby Frandy de la Rosa, since the start of July (148 PA): .280/.338/.424 with 11/21 BB/K

Any interest still there for him? I know he is already 18 and it's the DSL, but it's nice to see him not be terrible, I guess.

They changed the rule because of the Mets situation.

Daytona players walked 12 times this day.

Vogelbach, Schwarber and McKinney all twice. McKinney has gotten on base via hit or walk in all but 2 of his 28 games as a Cub. I really wish they would switch he and Marco Hernandez in the batting order.

Duane Underwood is 92-94 tonight (couple 96's). Good curve and decent feel for change.

If Underwood can learn to command those secondary pitches...look out.

Really underrated prospect in my opinion. Surprised he doesn't get more love from the national guys.

I'm working on my top 20-30, and with Baez, Hendricks, and Alcantara graduating, Underwood is probably 12th or so for me. I have him bunched up with Pierce Johnson, Corey Black, and CJ Edwards in a tight race for the 2nd best pitching prospect.

Did Steele pitch last night or is his line from 7/13?

He pitched yesterday.

Thanks. I'm getting pretty excited about him.
