I'm 35, and began following the Cubs in '87. Gracie is my all-time favorite player, and I don't give a damn who mocks me for it. '89 was my all-time favorite sports team, as it included my other favorite guys Maddux, Sandberg and Dawson. Wood is my last favorite - I'm waiting for the next guy who can match these five for me.

Maddux is definitely my #2; him not being re-signed was truly when the realities of being a Cubs fan were revealed to me. I remember my dad breaking the news like my [expletive] grandfather had died or something.

I went out and bought a Braves hat that day.

I never actually watched the Braves or became a Braves fan, but it was the only form of protest I could muster.

Heh.

After we won game #2 against SD in '84, my Dad bought a bottle of champagne. And we watched it sit there as the Cubs lost the next 3.

That is when I knew. By the time the Maddux thing happened, it was more "of course" rather than shock.

Dawson, Sandberg, Sosa, Girardi, Wood. Also, Clement and DeRosa. This might get me some [expletive] but I really like Edmonds for his brief period of time here

Remember how much Harry loved Doug Dascenzo? Every time he made decent catch in CF, Harry would act like it was the second coming of Willie Mays.

I was at the 2 HR in one inning game. Awesome.

i somehow managed to be at each of his 2 HR games, including the one in milwaukee when we buried them for good.

I always forget about him. His completely random resurgence into one of the best hitters in baseball for three months was amazing.
