since we have like 8 power forwards now, that means we're officially out on love too. the bulls will end up being much improved, but this offseason is still a big failure.

This seems like a 58 win season and 5 game loss to Lebron. That will be 5/6 in the last 6 years.

We basically need Mcdemott to be klay Thompson and Mirotic to be prime Toni kukoc instead of omri casspi and Rudy Fernandez.

like seanimal said, it's back to nba purgatory. only this time we're relying on rose staying healthy just to get there. then we'll remember we still don't have a second ball handler that can create a shot.

We are just unable to make the big key pickup when we need to. I truly believe that the front office falls in love with their guys and when they need to package them they won't.

My final hope is adding a guy like Eric Gordon and having him find it again or putting together jimmy taj and every pick for the next bunch of years for love.

If the cap goes way up near term we won't need draft picks.

Isiah Thomas could have been a nice pickup at his contract. They just never get a ball handler scorer they just refuse to.

I wonder how minutes will play out? In an ideal world, Noah, Pau, and Taj all get 30+. But that obviously isn't realistic. Short of injury allowing it anyway.

Plus, do we think Mirotic is a rotation guy as a rookie? Or do we think they add a vet min guy and this is basically a red shirt year for him?

In LeBrons 11 seasons the Bulls have only played longer into the season than him one time (04-05) and that was because the Cavs lost a tiebreaker for the 8 seed so they didn't lose in the first round like Bulls. In the next 9 seasons Lebron has played at least a round later in the playoffs

I don't think I they refuse to get a scoring wing. they just refuse to pay big dollars for crappy or mediocre scoring wings. That's how you find yourself in cap hell . Ask the Knicks, Nets, Pistons, Bucks, Lakers, Pistons, Kings, etc how that goes.

Mirotic is at minimum a 15 min a game guy who spreads the floor and handles the ball.

If Mirotic can be out there with 2 of taj Pau and Noah than I hope he gets minutes I've been waiting for 4 years. Taj is a very versatile defender so he can play with one of Noah/Pau and McDermott/Mirotic. I definitely hope to see Mirotic and McDermott get a chance to be in the rotation.

This means less butler which is good and less Kirk in a 3 guard lineup. The rotation is deep and hopefully we allow for the upside of some of the new guys.

I have no idea what any of this means for dunleavy. We have a bunch of potentially good front court players. Knowing thibs we probably just have a new bench mob.

Yea but when guys like Tyreke evans have been available for doable contracts or trades they refuse to do it. I feel like Lance Stephenson is another chance they won't take.

So is this what the depth chart is looking like?

Rose/Hinrich (maybe)

Butler/Snell

Dunleavy/McDermot

Gibson/Gasol/Mirotic/Smith/Randolph

Noah

To the extent tht positions are relevant. Pau can play center. When LA was winning titles Bynam wasn't a big part of those teams. Pau was the center.

Noah has been in the high block recently. They are very complimentary. Gasol with the ball in the block is much better than Noah. The two man game with Noah away from the basket will work well with Pau down low.

Can't see us being able to afford him.

I think whoever the backup PG is will be from the RMLE. Whether it's Augustin or a proxy I think Thibs system has proven to be pretty PG friendly and as long as we don't blow it on Hinrich we should get good production.

how much is that exemption? 2.5 mil?

As I understand it, unless they sign and trade Boozer the Bulls won't get the full MLE right?

I'm assuming the Bulls are more likely to bring back Hinrich over DJ because they have Hinrich's bird rights, but not DJs? Or do they have neither because Hinrich only had a 2 year deal?

They'd be nuts to bring back Hinrich. He is literally one of the worst players in the NBA at this point. He's put up twin 10.8 PER's since he returned to Chicago.

Room MLE is 2.732

Hinrich still has some use, but not as a main rotation guy. As the 11-12th man picking up some PG and SG providing some 3 and D he has use as a veteran minimum guy. PER is okay, but leaves a bit to be desired as its mostly an offensive rating. He should basically be the equivalent of replacement level in MLB terms though.

I don't understand basketball and don't think I ever will.

The salary cap rules and roster fill options are certainly a pain in the ass to learn.

I just decide to learn them in part and have others fill in the blanks.

Hinrich is fine as a fourth guard.

But is he fine as the #1 PG when rose goes down?
