I'm literally in the middle of a conversation with some friends about Hinrich vs. Augustin. Biggest sticking point is 'Kirk's offense is horrible but DJ was a huge liability defensively, especially in the playoffs.'

Is there something that forces Bulls fans to like Hinrich?

i suppose "hold their own" is pretty subjective in meaning

His nickname is "Captain Kirk," dudes; as we learned recently, nicknames in basketball mean a LOT. Edited by Sammy Sofa

I'd be surprised if there was a team in Europe that could win 10 games in an nba schedule. But that could satisfy holding ones own depending.

He appears to be a soft big man that can shoot. Bargnani?

He's basketball Ryan Theriot?

I share bulls season tickets with a couple of people who loved theriot. And I listen to the post game radio show on 1000. I don't know anybody who loves Kirk hinrich. I don't think he's an especially popular player. Scalabrini was way more beloved.

So, he doesn't play in the last 5 minutes on D? Problem solved.

I know it's cool to think Wade and Bosh suck, but they don't. That roster just posted is definitely on a par with anyone else in the East currently.

wade only played like 50 games last year so he could be rested/healthy down the stretch, and he still wasn't. they won't have the luxury of resting him in all those regular season games this year, so i wouldn't be too optimistic about him holding up over 70+ games. also, bosh will have to return to his toronto form to come close to earning that new contract.

the heat look like a 45-50 win team, and irrelevant come playoff time.

I get that Wade isn't likely to stay healthy, but does anyone here feel like betting the farm that Rose plays more games than him this season? Their plight hinges on Wade just as ours does with Rose.

true, but if rose is healthy/good, the bulls are borderline title contenders. i think even without rose, they win a similar amount of games as the heat next season.

I know we're not done, but I think if Rose goes down and Hinrich is playing 30+ minutes a night, we're a .500 team at best currently. And that's with no other injuries. We literally have no one that can create their own shot.

If Miami IS healthy, I see them as much more than a 45 regular season win team though. And since Wade hasn't actually re-signed yet, I've got a feeling he's taking much less to surround himself with a better core than they've got at present too.

So you're assuming worst case scenario for the Bulls vs best case scenario for the Heat?

team won 48 games without rose for like 90% of the year and with him playing terribly for the games he did play and they're .500 at best without him after swapping boozer for gasol and adding mirotic and mcbuckets?

i mean, i get that they lost augustin but i don't see it.

they won 48 games without rose last season, and they're improved. i know dj was big, but he wasn't the difference between 48 wins and 41.

No, it's either/or. If both teams are healthy, I put them on the same level. If neither Rose or Wade are healthy, I do the same.

the heat without wade are not anywhere near the bulls without rose level. lottery team. that team would be horrendous.

and the same goes for both with. the upside in such a situation for the bulls is much greater. it's best team in the east type.

and yes, i would bet that rose would play more (and provide more value) in a reasonable projection for both

if rose is healthy/good, the bulls are vastly superior to miami, regardless of what wade is doing.

the idea that a wade-less version of this heat team would be viewed as on par with a rose-less version of the bulls is blowing my mind.

I've constructed about 3 responses to this, and ultimately, I'm just going to go with....no. Just no.

i'm doing my best not to go full-ssr on this thread, so let me just ask:

what do you think is the likelihood that rose is healthy and good this year?
