Wait are people actually worried about Baez already?

Yes, I would be. I think he'll be fine but this start should for sure be something to worry about.

This isn't his first slow start, and he's had little injuries to deal with this time. If it carries on into mid-late May, then I'll start to get worried.

So do we have a 2014 scouting report on what Wada's throwing and whether this is anything that might work in the bigs or is it just some BABIP induced flukiness?

It's 43 at bats. That's barely anything.

I'm actually sort of glad he's struggling. He has to learn to control the zone.

I think his slash line will reach normal Baez levels within the next couple months. I'm not worried Triple-A pitchers will continue to have their way with him after he dominated Double-A at age 20. However, these extreme struggles beginning with each level could make them hesitant to challenge him and call him up midseason like we all hoped. If he doesn't change, his first go-around in the bigs will be scary bad. Maybe I'm overreacting to these first few weeks, but I'm getting to the point where I could see them keeping him in Iowa until May 2015 with Bryant. That saddens me because Baez was the most exciting part of 2014 for me.

They could just wait until September when he could still get ~100 PAs and no one would be watching so it wouldn't really matter if he sucked.

What happened to Torrez? I was promised Torrez.

Late scratch per the Kane County website writeup.

John Arguello[/url]"]UPDATE: Torrez is fine and will pitch tomorrow (per Cougars announcer Wayne Randazzo)

Torrez was scratched last night because of the threat of rain, no injury concerns.

If Baez isn't up in August they're not going to waste sweet sweet team control on him by calling him up in September

I think I'd honestly rather have Wada come up and take the 5th starter than Arrieta.

Absolutely, but more because Arrieta sucks than any great hope for Wada

Jake Arrieta's last three starts: 24 IP, 12 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 21 Ks. ‪#‎Ace‬

Is that good?
