Because the trade did not "work out great for the cubs" as theo stated. Maybe the guy we got for him contributes, maybe not. He not a top prospect now, maybe he could become one. I dont understand how the deal worked out great for the cubs.

It opened up a spot for guys like Junior Lake who you would much rather see him than a 38 year old guy who won't be here in 2 years. Also, you get a guy in Corey Black who could be a valuable bullpen piece down the line. Pretty obvious why this is good for both teams.

The longer time goes on, the more people end up following my opinions. Remember when "maybe we're broke?" was just one of those laughable things Kyle said? What about "Brett Jackson strikes out too much and is a bust"?

The problem is, you seem to be putting a lot more blame on Theo/Hoyer than you should. The majority of the blame should be directed at the Ricketts who aren't broke. Forbes says the Cubs made 400 million in profit last season, there is no way Ricketts is broke unless he's just a horrible businessman. The rooftops situation is just an excuse for him not to spend money.

You've reached a new level when you refer to yourself in the first person - nice job

Kyle's got a record. Kyle's jumping for dollars. Kyle and George are gonna get rich.

(the percentage of people you interact with on a daily basis who are too young for Seinfeld references is depressingly non-zero and growing every year).

Great episode

They got a decent prospect; that was about the best that could be hoped for.

I'm putting the *right* amount of blame on them, you're just not putting enough.

And yeah, it turned out we weren't technically broke, we were just spending half our money on debt service and can't spend the other half because of our agreement with Zell. lt just wasn't a brilliant gambit by Epstein to divert all our old payroll to long-term investments and savings.

And I really doubt Forbes said we made $400m in profit. I'm assuming that's a typo?

If you're negative about every prospect, you're bound to be right 90% of the time.

Which seems like a good reason to be negative on them.

Because you were the *only* person saying that, right?

I'm not the only person saying anything. But that doesn't stop people from trying to act like I am when they disagree.
