I love hockey and am a season ticket holder for the Lightning but the random way that penalties are called is a huge negative to the game as a whole. A guy can do an obvious slash and no call but the next time down the ice someone barely taps a player and it is a penalty. You also get rewarded late in the game if you commit a bunch of penalties early because officials inexplicably feel the need to keep penalties close to even over the course of the game.
