Very cool to see Torrez make KC. Very surprised to see that Masek did not.

Masek and Wells, I assume both injured.

Michael Wagner didn't make the cut.

Prieto and Lang, I wonder if released or still hanging in XST?

Interesting that Concepcion made it. Will be interesting to see if he can get anybody out now that he's perhaps finally healthy and strong.

Names I was surprised to not see on any rosters - Ben Wells, Dillon Maples, Trey Lang, Michael Wagner, Trey Masek, Mark Malave, Justin Marra and Jesse Hodges.

Surprised to see players at lower levels than expected: Austin Reed, Zach Cates and Tony Zych. All relievers.

Higher than expected (though we had hints for all of these): Ron Zaztrysny, Jen-Ho Tseng, Daury Torrez and Gerardo Concepcion.

Maples was injured in camp (Az Phil), no details.

Wells must be hurt, too.

Lang, he's just so wild, I'd not be surprised if he was held at XST or perhaps already released.

Wagner, I wonder if he's hurt? Or just not good enough to make the team?

Masek has had health questions, so it's not encouraging for him to disappear. I wonder if there's a chance they just wanted to keep him out of cold Midwest given his history of arm concerns? Not likely, presumably he's damaged goods.

@BenBadler: Cubs are sending Jen-Ho Tseng to Low-A Kane County for his pro debut. Could make a big leap this season. See if he's the same guy in August.

Can someone fill me in on Torrez? For some reason I'm pulling a blank on the guy.

Was a DSL top 20 prospect in 2012, pitched well in the AZL last season. FB topped out at 93 back when he was in the DSL, also throws a slider and change.

Lots of notes from Mark Johnson(KC manager)

Maples, Conway, and McNeil could all debut in KC late this summer.

Tseng is polished

Starting OF is Martin in left, Hannemann in center, Balaguert in right. Dunston is a swing guy.

Could go with 6 man rotation after first two times through, 6th guy could be Underwood

Pitching coach Dave Rosario gives them a bilingual coach, which they didn't have last year .

Tseng has a translator traveling with him all year

Hannemann is fastest guy Johnson has seen in a while

Skulina's biggest thing to work on are mechanics

Johnson said Underwood tweaked his forearm in Spring Training, little behind. Dillon Maples broken rib in upper back, out 8 weeks. #cubs

Ouch, broken rib would not be fun for a pitcher. Could easily imagine a broken rib taking 8 weeks or more, given the windup and torque and extension that a good pitcher uses.

Forearm injuries are not good for pitchers.

Disappointed Arias isn't in KC's rotation.

I'm sure he'll piggyback one of them.

Hopefully, along with Frazier.

I'd hate it if last year's injury ended his chances of starting.

According to the Iowa Cubs Twitter account last night they are going to release their 2014 roster as soon as the Chicago Cubs give them permission.

Odd that Chicago Cubs haven't done that yet. They must be hoping some late additions can be made to the squad or something.

Worth noting, he's also to walks what CJ Edwards is to HRs allowed. 15 walks in 169 pro innings.
