LOL at Arizona:

@MattNorlander: Arizona has lost its last four Elite Eight games by an average of 1.8 points and gone to two overtimes.

So just like everyone seems to be over looking the obvious steal in the Mich/Tenn game, everyone seems to be completely over looking that Johnson missed the shot in last nights game

Often facts get in the way of fake controversy

as a sane badger fan, my response to the end of the game was this:

Should have been no-call and not offensive foul. Shouldn't have overturned OOB call. Either way, Arizona still had their shot - and the PAC12 POTY didn't get the shot off. Bo gets his Final Four.

I agree with all of this

Yeah, I agree with that too. (Though Johnson didn't deserve Pac-12 POTY but that's neither here nor there.)

It's much less about the end result for me that it is how they got there. In both cases, the officials completely botched the play and potentially affected the outcome of the game by interrupting the flow of play. Other than rooting for my bracket, I had no interest in either outcome, I just want to see refs stop inserting themselves into outcomes when they should keep the whistle in their pocket. As physical as the play has been most of this tournament, they haven't seemed to have a problem doing that except in the last few minutes of games.

My thought was that Wisconsin got revenge for the awful theft of the football game vs ASU (right?) early on in the season.

I mean, different schools, same state and conference.

I understand this. I agree the officiating has been really bad for several yrs now. If that is what people would like to have a discussion about than I fully understand. But pulling out a play here and a play there to somehow justify why team A was lucky and team B was screwed is just bad journalism...especially if you are looking at those plays with a very limited scope.

What ends up happening is rule changes are made based on a few plays at 'key' moments in the NCAA tourney partly because of this kind of poor journalism. These rule changes just seem to be muddying the waters more than fixing the perceived problem.

Michigan St Basketball = Long stretches of mediocrity punctuated by a couple of big runs that win games.

The positive spin to that is that they're very good at adjusting on the fly.

And it sounds like a home game for UConn

I hate the '13 UK comparisons to the Fab Five, it's not even close. Michigan was so better than the current Uk squad. I know UM was only a 6 seed going into the tourney but the talent level was so much greater than UK.

Only the second time a 7-seed has made the final four joining Virginia in 1984.
