@RapSheet: Seattle has made an offer to Michael Bennett, who has left it on the table to seek others. Will see if he returns. Oak, Chicago, others wait

Brian Urlacher on Bears releasing Devin Hester:

"It's frustrating...It’s the loyalty factor. It’s just not there."

What doesn't this dude get? When you make a lot of money and don't perform to your standards, teams move on. That's any team in the freaking NFL. The Bears aren't going to resign you because you played well for them in 2006.

The more this guy talks the more I forget how great of a football player he was.

I know, but realistically you've got to expect this kind of thinking from ex-players.

Yeah, he needs to stop talking. I want to still like him.

Urlacher is talking about himself. He's bitter and is still hung up on the idea that if Angelo and Lovie had been there he would have a received at least a one year "legacy" contract and a spot on the coaching staff thereafter. This has nothing to do with Hester.

He'll eventually get over it.

NFLDrafttek has Bears taking:

Gilbert (CB - Ok St)

Sutton (DT - ASU)

Richburg (Center -CO St)

Sam (DE - Mizzou)

Loston (SS - LSU)

Grice (RB - ASU)

Boston (FS - UNC)

If they ink Bennett in addition, this would be a very good draft. I'd be happy with Gilbert or Denard, and grabbing Sutton and Sam in those rounds feels like steals to me.

I do wonder if we'll be bothering with a center in this draft (especially with so many needs on D) given that we re-signed Garza.

Ugh. I don't think Sutton is a 2nd round pick anymore. He went from dominant in 2012 at 280-ish lbs. Then grew to 300 and struggled at time this year. Weighed even more at the Senior Bowl. Got back to around 300 at the combine and still wasn't able to show the quickness in drills that he showed on the field in 2012. He's a 4th round prospect to me.

I'd also rather do without the center. With Garza and Boggs back, the Bears have their 1-2. No need to draft a 3rd C. Obviously, Boggs could be cut and nobody would care, but Garza hasn't missed a game in like 6 years. I don't see the need to spend a top 85 pick on a guy who has a very high probability of never seeing the field as a rookie.

I agree on Sutton, don't agree with you on C. If you can get the best C in the draft in the 3rd round, I won't complain. It means they don't think Boggs can start (and he'd be let go). Just because Garza hasn't gotten hurt lately doesn't mean he won't. He is getting very old. And you have to be forward-looking when you draft, you can't just draft for 2014.

Yup. He was always an unlikable oaf, but all of the anti-Cutler stuff sealed the deal.

Anti Cutler stuff? Didn't he call Cutler a [expletive] once off the record before he even knew him? Or am I forgetting other stuff?

He thought they should start McCown over Cutler.

He also had some things to say when Jay got paid.

“They think he’s the guy, so there you go,” Urlacher said.

The size of Cutler’s deal definitely surprised Urlacher.

“Yes, very large,” Urlacher said. “It’s good for him. I guess the thinking is, if you think you have a franchise quarterback, you hold on to them. It’s hard to find them in the NFL, and I think the GM there [Phil Emery] thought he had one, so they paid him like one.”

“Man, they were great this year,” Urlacher said. “[Josh] McCown did a great job when he came in for Jay. They scored a ton of points. They’re fun to watch. I didn’t get a chance to watch a lot of their games, but I saw highlights, and they had four guys in the Pro Bowl on offense. Just a great year offensively for them.”

Haha, you know you're a meatball when you make Olin Kreutz not sound like one.

I think ideally you are correct, but with all the holes they have on D I don't see how they can afford to make that kind of pick in this draft.

I was mainly talking about the rumors he was pretty anti-Cutler basically from the moment he showed up. He was like a big dumb dying jungle animal trying to maintain his spot at the head of the pack.

I think it's going to be a two year rebuild of the defense so I'm not as worried about an offensive pick here or there to ensure the offense remains at a high level.

Regardless of how he feels, does he really not understand how bitter he sounds on all this? I'm sure he has a publicist right? Is that person just collecting a pay check?

So with Hester gone, do the Bears default the PR/KR to Weems? Does anyone think they will draft a WR/KR in the draft this year?

I imagine Chris Williams will have the best chance. He was picked up off New Orleans' practice squad last December.
