Week 15: Bears (7-6) @ Browns (4-9) Noon, FOX

Posted

I apologize. I made that post thinking you laid out a specific scenario, when you really just asked if NBC would care about putting on a team twice in a row. And then you followed UMFan in recognizing that either way two teams could go two weeks in a row, when one team is Chicago and the other is Philly.

And while I have to admit Chicago>Philly (no matter how good Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper can make us all feel better about our mental illnesses), no matter what NBC decides, they don't mind putting on Chicago twice in a row, especially when Chicago plays GB.

It's probably going to be Eagles/Cowboys. It's more likely that Bears/Packers means nothing than Eagles/Cowboys. If Detroit loses tomorrow though, that could change a lot, though I doubt the Cowboys lose to the Redskins (even though both teams are a mess and a joke), so Eagles/Cowboys I'd put at about 90% of happening Sunday night.

Maybe its historical trauma, but I really can't envision the Bears beating the Rodgers-led Packers.

I am falling for the gambler's fallacy, I know. But its trauma, friends.

I think the Bears can win. Offense rolling, at home, Briggs back. Rodgers will be having nightmares of the great Shea McClellin all week.

Yeah, 3 of the last 4 weeks have seen a GB tie and two 1-point victories. [expletive] off.

Yeah, the Cowboys giveth, and they taketh away.

I'm surprised to see that Conte had such a good game. Would have been better if he'd had his head out of his ass on that last play.

That tie is going to end up helping the Packers

Not as much as a win would have.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people keep saying that. If the Packers lose the same amount of games as we do, we beat them out.

I have a 5 minute commute to my office. In those 5 minutes, I made the mistake of turning on The Score. I heard:

-Cutler is no different than Rex

-The offense under McCown was "a buffet", now its a "one-course meal-just Brandon Marshall"

-All Jay cares about is himself.

-No one will ever win with Jay

-We need someone to control the ball and manage the game

I'm really going to be curious to see what the Bears do with McClellin next year.

You kinda have to keep him, at least thru camp next year. He's shown flashes (Aaron Rodgers), and he's on his cheap rookie deal still. He's not an injury, lockerroom or effort problem (ala Webb, Carimi, others). I think best case is he's pushed down the depth chart. If you cut Peppers, going to need to bring in 2 DEs (along w/ re-signing Wootton) to push Shea down the depth chart. As the 4th DE, that gets 30-35% of the snaps, not a big deal.

Actually, if you bring back Wootton, and bring in 2 DEs, he may be competing with Bass and Cornelius Washington for 1-2 final roster spots. He gets beat out, so be it. Those guys are cheaper anyway.

I'm looking forward to Bernstein today.

yeah i hate meatballs too. sometimes its entertaining when they really start to go on a particularly meatbally tangent, but in this case its extremely irritating.

So Mike Mulligan just had a great point on the radio (every squirrel finds the occasional nut)...

As for Cutler's future with the team, which involves money in his bank account -- well, Cutler did hear about general manager Phil Emery's reluctance to use the franchise tag next year.

"I know Phil has a plan," Cutler said. "You guys might not know Phil's plan, but he has a plan."

If Cutler knows that Phil has a plan, has negotiations already begun? Maybe Jay's agent is already talking with Emery? Does Jay know that they want him back?
