SC allegedly honing in on either Peterson or Franklin and looking to make an announcement this week.

In a shocking turn of events, Chris Petersen said no.

If I'm him, I'm waiting for the NFL. He can always go back to college, a la Saban, Spurrier, etc.

I think he may have waited too long.

ESPN and Dan Patrick are saying Steve Sarkisian met with Pat Haden over the weekend.

I'm really meh on Sarkisian

Don't blame you, half the UW fanbase wants him out. Seems totally uninspiring and another attempt to recreate the glory days of the 2000s, but without the main cog (Carroll).

I'm worried since Washington would go after Mora (he's a UW alum) in that case and Dan Guerrero is still our incompetent AD.

What the hell is Petersen waiting for? This is a top 10-15 job and Boise's ship has sailed in terms of winning a title. They have to go undefeated AND have all hell break loose in front of them. That will happen about once every 10 years, especially with no one wanting to schedule them. Unless they somehow keep being awesome and get invited to the Pac 12, this may be the best chance he ever has to coach in a major conference for one of the top tier teams.

Everyone has different ambitions. Petersen's been at Boise for close to 15 years now, makes 2 million a year, and has a ton of job security.

Fair enough, but hard to believe that someone that has worked so hard for so long in something that they obviously love not want to get to the top of their profession to have a better chance to win a title. In basketball, you don't need to be in a major conference to do that, football is different. Good for him and I'm sure he lives an extremely nice life, but it's so rare to see someone in this position just basically settle.

Yep. From what I've heard, his wife loves it in Boise and has no interest in moving to a bigger city. And his son has some sort of rare medical condition and the family loves how BSU's medical facilities have taken care of the family.

I'm really meh on Sarkisian

I'm hearing a lot of noise that Sark to Southern Cal is a done deal.

ETA: Now official.

They gonna try to keep Ogre and recreate the Carroll recruiting team? If you're Coach O, I think you have to take your cookies and look for a HC job at a mid-tier school, don't you? Stock isn't going to get any higher as Sark's DL coach or DC.

Wonder who UW can bring in. Sark did a solid job bringing the program out of the Ty debacle (did you realize UW was -308 in PF v. PA in Ty's last year?). But only 8-4 and no great wins this year.

Feldman says they're interested in DeRuyter, Mora, and Wilcox (UW's DC).

Recruiting isn't the problem (or solution) despite the lack of scholies.

I wanted Franklin if Petersen wasn't the guy. Blah.

Wilcox is following Sarkisian to Southern Cal and Coach O is out.

Don't think Mora will bounce but I can't deny I'm worried.

I think its a good hire. As we discussed last week Sark has done a great job in UW and it will be a lot easier for him in LA than in Seattle. Such a better choice than JDR. With Sumlin off the table this is as good as they were gonna do.

Why would Orgeron leave? Hes getting paid well, hes got his private jet in LA, hes been selling SC to aunts, uncles, mothers and fathers of 16yr olds for years. HEs secure, well liked, etc. Not sure why hed rather be Illini's or Colorado's head coach.

And i agree, if you are petersen, why would you even mess around with SC. Everyhting good about BSU is bad about USC and if he likes it he likes it.

I read somewhere that UW is Mora's "dream job" but I'd be surprised if he up and left UCLA so quickly. DeRuyter seems like a pretty good call.

Love me some Tim DeRuyter. Hope he gets the opportunity to move up.

Some of the UW guys are hoping for Pinkel. Not sure if there's much of a chance he'd leave Mizzou but he's got UW ties, like Mora.
Posted
UW called Pinkel 4 years ago and he declined to interview. Considering he's said he's only a few years from retirement and he's now been at Mizzou as long as he was at UW, it's hard for me to see that happening.

Ahh, I didn't there was much more than some fans' wishes. I think Wilcox is the most likely hire for then.

Also, this was following Orgeron's last player meeting:

@KristenERodgers: #USC players were instructed to not comment on coaching situation. Some left meeting with visible tear marks.

Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe resigns. @InsideUSC has Ed Orgeron applying. Seems like a good spot for Pete Lembo too.
