Lake and Hendricks for Anderson and Reddick.

 

Oh man, I'd take that any day of the week, which makes me think the A's would never agree to that.

Yeah, I don't think Lake is a great fit, especially as a centerpiece. I wonder how close a package with Schierholtz and Alcantara would be though. Would that do it? Do you have to add Hendricks? Vogelbach? Straight no? Like I mentioned, I have zero feel for the A's.

vogelbach would probably make sense as a trade piece. obviously he's still a couple of years away, but the a's DH numbers were pretty pedestrian this year and there's nobody in the current lineup who looks like he'll be forced to move to DH in the near future due to age and/or lousy fielding. i don't think they have all that much in terms of power prospects besides michael choice, and he only hit about 15 home runs in 600 minor league plate appearances this year. point is, if vogelbach does pan out as a hitter, there's nobody really blocking him from the DH slot.

That may work out better for your wants honestly. Reddick gives them excellent balance to their lineup, if they don't receive enough for him, Cespedes could be the guy they deal. And it's been mentioned as a possibility.......Guess we need a lefty bat longterm, but I'm like you and have a soft spot for Cespedes.

His value is pretty low, has a nice power bat and a strong arm. Don't really see the need though, think it's more about the pitching we'd get in a deal with him.

Elite defense and power, 3 years of team control and entering his prime years, "down" season(and wrist injury) plus Oakland's price consciousness make him available. Basically you take on the injury risk and take advantage of Oakland's small market to get a 3-5 win RF. He's also a Theo/Jed product coming from the Boston system, so the interest would be there if he's truly available.

But, hockey players are only growing them during the playoffs. That's not a playoff beard. It's awesome as hell, but he's been growing that for a while.

 

Did the Red Sox just start growing their beards when the playoffs started? Cuz looking at pics, I seriously doubt it.

 

EDIT: Looking up hockey beards, and while there's some good NHL ones, this guy from a Swedish league is killing it...
