Anywaysssssssssssss, I really want to see a blowout this Thursday. Kill them early, let me go to bed.

It would be pretty gut wrenching at the point to lose to the Giants, at home, after they've been blown out 105-28 the last 3 weeks to the 1-3 Panthers and 2-3 Eagles

Yesterday they averaged more yards per play in a game since a game vs. the Lions in September of 1989. I would say that's progress.

And what [expletive] good did that do us?

Again, decide what point you want to argue. We aren't talking about wins and losses. We're talking about the offense you found worthy to mock.

My point is I want to [expletive] win games. I thought that was the point of playing them.

No, that wasn't your point. Your point was to crap on the "CFL coach's offense...lol".

They outgained the Saints by over 100 yards. Had only one turnover, had a 200 yard receiver, and had a QB with a 128.1 rating. (Though admittedly QBR tells a different story on Jay.)

I don't think it's going to happen. This is a massive drop off in talent from Sunday to Thursday. Saints are pretty consistently top 10 in all the FO ranking categories -- NYG are bringing up the bottom of the league in just about everything.

NYG can't rush the passer this year, they are even worse than the Bears. Manning has been a turnover machine -- he's got 4 more INTs than anyone else. They can't run the ball either.

About the only thing I can find that the Giants do reasonably well is stop the run.

To me it would be completely shocking if the Bears drop this one at home. Maybe it won't be as huge a blowout as I would like, but I expect a much different story than the past two weeks, and a Bears win.

I know I'm kind of an eternal optimist when it comes to the Bears, but I don't think the defense has been as bad as the stats indicate. They played well enough against everyone but AJ Green and Reggie Bush weeks 1 & 4. They allowed a bunch of garbage yards against Pittsburgh. Brees picked apart a soft defense yesterday, and Payton thoroughly outcoached Tucker with the play calling.

That being said, I don't expect the defense to get much better with the age and no interior DL. Best case scenario right now is that the offense puts complete games together gets hot late in the season, and makes a run with an opportunistic defense. Its basically how the Saints and Ravens won their rings recently.

The biggest defensive issue for me continues to be lack of pressure. The Bears are still capable of getting turnovers, but against good teams, if we don't get pressure against the QB, the chances of getting those turnovers are going to be greatly diminished. We need to force the QB to make mistakes, and too many QB's this season have been able to sit back and be comfortable in the pocket.

Our safeties didn't play well yesterday, but again, pressure on the QB helps them out.

All this has to take into account the defense is starting from a very high level, while the offense is starting from a very low level.

The defense doesn't suck, but it has fallen far from where it once was. Briggs isn't awful, but he isn't the star he once was. Peppers is nearly as useless as McClellin.

But I wasn't that impressed with what Brees did yesterday. That lazy duck he threw down the left sideline that hung up forever should never have been completed. He had forever to make his passes and still had to rely on plenty of checkdowns. I just didn't see a lot of "wow what a throw by Brees" moments yesterday. It was just a matter of dropping back and having his choice of receiver, eventually.

Still feel they need to be more aggressive to get pressure. Tillman and Jennings were probowlers last year. They can cover. Gotta force the issue at some point.

Tucker did the creative blitz thing against Pittsburgh. I guess he figured Brees would burn it too badly, but I think that's really the only way this defense will generate pressure.

I don't know. Is that a magical land where people care more about the final score than which team had better stats?

Everyone is pissed about the loss but some live in a magical land where projecting future outcome relies on more than a small sample of past outcomes.

Anyhow the only complaints we are allowed to make about Treastman that relate to his CFL days are 12 man penalties and 3rd down punts. Any other time someone brings up the CFL , they're just hopelessly trolling and /or meat balling.

The Saints came into the game 4th in points allowed per game, 11th in yards allowed per game, 4th in sacks, 3rd in interceptions.

The Bears' offense didn't play great, but it was decent in what is turning out to be a very good Saints' defense.

(My apologies for using stats, oldstyle.)

Nate Collins out for the year, per Score

It just cannot possibly be believed. And it was Melton with an ACL, as well.

At this point whoever the Bears put at DT has to feel like the drummer of Spinal Tap.

jesus, another year where injuries kill us. I know every team has injuries, but do they all have to be on one unit?

The Bears were 7-1 last year with a bottom of the league ranked offense. How did that turn out for them at the end of the year?
