I finally understand what it was like to be a Bulls fan in the 1990s. Or at least close.

not really that close. There was almost no doubt the Bulls were going to win the championship in at least 3 of their championship yrs. The Edmonton Oilers dynasty run was probably the last time an NHL team was that dominant.

The Fourth Period: Sources saying the Blackhawks are extremely interested in Ryan Kesler. The Penguins put an offer on the table and the Red Wings, Flyers and Blue Jackets are also interested. The Blackhawks are also interested Martin Brodeur.

I can't imagine we'd be willing to part with enough pieces to make a Kelsler deal work. I would think they'd demand Teravainen, two 1st round picks, and someone like Saad. That said, in order to make the numbers work we'd probably have to part with Bickell.

And I'm not sure why we need Brodeur. I think Raanta has been fine.

Look...I am a self-described hockey hater, Blackhawks hater and especially Blackhawk fans hater, but....

Why do you NEVER hear about the Blackhawks on sports talk radio? I hear way more Bulls talk, baseball talk, hell even Olympic hockey talk last week. If they are so popular and people "care" so much, then why aren't isn't the best team in the NHL ever discussed?

I think it's odd that you think they aren't. I hear them discussed pretty regularly.

NHL receives less attention here in general, everyone knows that. The Hawks get pretty good coverage considering this, IMO

Pirri traded to Florida for 3rd and 5th round picks. Blackhawks south.

is it weird that i dont love this?

Which part? That Florida is the elephant graveyard for failed Hawks draft picks? Or do you think they could have gotten more for Pirri? There are rumors that Pirri asked for a trade. The Panthers 3rd round pick is pretty much a 2nd round pick given how bad the Panthers are doing.

I would have liked to keep Pirri into next season as insurance against Tuevo needing a full year at Rock Vegas.

Are the Sharks any good this year? I barely follow hockey but I like to pretend I'm a Sharks fan.

2nd place in Pacific Division, #4 overall in the West

It's seems like they're the second or third best team in the West every year but never get to the conference finals.

Just for a secondary source on this...

Kesler, who has publicly denied his reported request for a trade, wants next to play for a U.S.-based team in the Eastern time zone — though he is intrigued by possibly joining Chicago, which has emerged as the Penguins' challenger for his services, the sources said.

The Pens - who have arguably the two best centers in the game (Toews, Stamkos, and Taveres certainly are part of the argument) - want Kesler for their third line? They'll have to part with one of their young, talented wingers. Is Kesler going to play on the second line with Malkin then?

The Pirri trade makes me wonder if the Hawks are serious about going after him. They picked up an extra third round pick. That might indicate they are trying to build depth in the second and third rounds in-case they have to part with multiple number one picks in order to make a Kesler deal happen. Still, they will have to clear cap space in order to make this deal, and that means Bickell and his $4 mill cap hit have to go (note that he has a limited NTC).

I'm in on Kesler. Not really sure the Hawks need him to win another Cup, but it certainly wouldn't hurt. I think it would take a lot less than people think to acquire him. It seems to me that trades for stars aren't taking as much to get as they used to. The Iginla trade wasn't a huge haul from Pittsburgh to Carolina last year.

here is a link with Pittsburgh proposed offer.

edit: I think Vancouver would probably require more from the Hawks since they are a Western Conference team...but obviously if that is the Penguins offer and Vancouver is considering, getting Kesler should be doable. Personally I think the Wings can easily beat that deal and will probably have a higher 1st rounder. I hope they become serious about obtaining Kesler also.

there's no way kesler gets 2 first round picks. ryan miller only got 1+ filler. i know miller is a rental, but still.
