Week 5 Saints (4-0) @ Bears (3-1) Noon CT Fox/780

Posted

Look, I have said in this thread that I am really torn on this game and I think it could go either way. I am not trashing the Bears, but rather trashing all this hyperbole-totally different team on the road, awful receiver comparison, rabble rabble.

It's largely a Bear fan thread, and there's pro-Bear "fan arguments" going on. Go figure.

OK, true.

I have some friends who were born and raised in Chicago and it's interesting to hear what they think about Cutler. I would say out of the 5 of them, 2 of them will defend Jay Cutler to the bitter end and 3 of them despise him. There is absolutely no grey area.

History shows it's practically a fact that NO is less-potent on the road. Now that's not to say it will be enough to keep them from beating the Bears, but a fact nonetheless.

It's funny because as Sproles was burning defenders last night I told myself there was no way he runs like that on our green spray painted dirt.

All this says is that 3 of your friends are idiots.

The Bears worked out 6 punters today, including Mat McBriar and Chris Kluwe. Podlesh's job is definitely not secure, thankfully.

That was a horrible display on Sunday but minus last Sunday, I don't think he's been that bad.

edit:

Looks can be deceiving, after looking at the numbers, it's definitely worth looking into.

So the Saints have played one road game this year. They beat Tampa 16-14.

Mcclellin has been horrible out there. He should be out there only on 2nd or 3rd and long.

Sounds like with Paea missing chunks of the game with turf toe, Wootton shifted inside and McClellin played way more than anyone would like to see.

And the Bears have won their two home games by a total of four points.

The Bears are a lot better than the Bucs.

So are the opponents the Bears played in those games.

Plus I'm pretty sure the Saints have a history of being mediocre on the road.

But seriously, who asked you?

i'm curious how the Bears fared on those 11 plays they brought in Britton; seemed like a pretty unusual tactic to me at the time

of course we did that last year some with Reiff, but that was to graciously notify the other team we were going to try running the ball, so i don't consider that analogous

How has Reiff done this year? just seen him last week and it wasn't the greatest. I ask this b/c I was pissed the Bears didn't draft him.

I've been optimistic that McClellin would turn the corner and become a solid situational pass rusher. Well, he did turn the corner and then went in the wrong direction. He was terrible in the game from my point of view.

And here I thought this was a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and musings.

Seriously though, I don't think anyone would be too surprised to see the Saints offense struggle on the grass on the road. Likewise, I don't think anyone would be too surprised to see Drew take over the game and go to 5-0.

During the game itself, of course I would give that courtesey. But before the game, why do you care so much if it isn't mean spirited? For every point that I might make there are fifteen of you attacking it. So why get so worked up over a lone voice amongst a sea of Bears fans?
