I recall back in '63 as the CUBS were finishing their first winning (82-80) season in 17 years, they got a visit from the 2nd place Cardinals right about this time. The CUBS managed to hang a 6-3 loss on the Cardinals and Bob Gibson, knocking the Cardinals out of the pennant race, and the Tribune ran a headline...... "CUBS WIN PENNANT..... FOR DODGERS"

Go CUBS !!

Travis Wood will only pitch one inning today and then will be pulled (the 1 IP is to get him to 200 on the season).

A bunch of the beat writers tweeted it about an hour ago.

I'm sure telling Wood he was going one inning had NOTHING to do with why he was awful in it.

What a joke.

Or maybe he choked because he knew he'd finish with a sub-3 ERA.
