Assuming the Bears are in the hunt, it's gonna be really nice to have that cushy Browns game in Week 15.

Todays trade didn't change that.

Yep.

Blew up a turkey with a full stick of dynamite on the Sunday after Thanksgiving last year in Peoria during halftime of the Bears/Vikings game. Found this youtube video today and thought I'd share it here. I was about 10 feet behind the guy in the Forte jersey. No turkey ended up on me, but my buddies car 50 feet behind me had a couple of rather large pieces of white meat on the hood of his car.

Not sure who did this video, but they were awful jumpy.

Why, why, why?

A) Why would you do this?

B) Why would you film it vertically?

C) Why would you not focus on the subject you are filming?

A) They had dynamite to spare and a turkey and Dr. McGillicuddy's, Jack Daniels and beer and halftime. The perfect storm.

B) and C) I do not know the answer to these questions.

Opening line (at least according to Yahoo) is Bears -2

The first line I saw was Bears -2 but that one is now -1.5. So people might be betting on Pittsburgh not starting off 0-3, which would seem unthinkable to most coming into the season.

I don't bet but given how Pitt looks, I'm surprised that the line is going down.

Well, it's 2.5 - 3.0 now.

Trying to get a decent prediction on this one, and I'm coming up defense.

I do think the Bears D should be able to do enough to shut down the Steelers, even at home, given all the problems they've had in the first 2 weeks. Maybe they won't put Big Ben on the turf, maybe they will, but I think containment is more realistic and it should be enough given their terrible run game.

But I also think the same will generally hold true with PIT's defense. They've been the better half of the Steelers so far, and given this is the first road game of the year for Trestman's new scheme, there should be enough there to keep the Bears scoring down as well.

I'm going to go Bears 20, Steelers 17. Another close one, nail-biter, largely defense-dominated game. I'll try to keep my usual game-thread negativity to a dull roar :)

"I think me and Coach Trestman are probably the only two people who understand each other," Bennett said. "I always say Coach Trestman reminds me of the first Willy Wonka. Not the Johnny Depp one. The Johnny Depp one was really cool, but the first one before that, the 1943 version."

Haha, 1943 Gene Wilder.

Wow, this was just mentioned on The Score, how this bit buried in the David Haugh article today is news...that we hadn't heard this before...

What a difference a year makes. Before the third game in 2012, the hot debate centered around Cutler's leadership after he bumped teammate J'Marcus Webb. Two games later, Lovie Smith alienated his quarterback by privately scolding him for walking away from offensive coordinator Mike Tice, for whom Cutler lost respect.

It was after that incident Smith, according to sources in the building, made clear to management his concerns over Cutler's attitude.

Despite any underlying friction between Smith and Cutler, the Bears managed a 10-6 record but missed the playoffs — allowing general manager Phil Emery to fire Smith and hire an offensive-minded coach to mesh with his mercurial quarterback.

Yeah, that is kind of a big thing. It's weird how casually he wrote about it.

This causes the "Jay didn't text me goodbye" thing from Urlacher to make more sense than it did (not that it didn't make any sense before).

That's really interesting on a bunch of different levels. Emery obviously chose the QB over the coach, even though the QB only had 1 year left on his deal. Also provides some possible insight as to why Trestman aka the QB whisperer was hired.

I also wonder if this means there may be some rifts between the players. You'd think Urlacher would have leaked something if there was some major friction between Cutler and some of the defensive guys (Briggs mainly). But I wonder if the Cutler/Lovie issues are the underlying factor for Hester wanting to get off of offense. From all accounts, Devin volunteered to solely concentrate on returning. I wonder if Hester just doesn't want to play with Cutler. Or if the only reason Hester was out there was because of Lovie, and he knows that Cutler knows that and was trying to avoid confrontation/getting cut.

Also wonder what would have happened if Lovie got into and won a playoff game or two.
