so, is Ryan Sweeney: Power Hitter a real thing?

He's such a big dude, it seems unfathomable that he would be such a pierre at a plate for so long.

Are we supposed to be upset if he's in our Opening Day lineup next year? I've got no clue what to think about him.

I don't think I would be. Definitely need to find RH hitting OF, especially one who hits LHP well. Assuming Lake is going to be starting just about everyday. And Valbuena>Barney at 2B X1000 next year. Let 3B be figured out by Olt, Vitters, veteran FA, whoever.

assuming a tight budget, i'm actually fine with Sweeney & Lake starting provided we can sign Tanaka or do something exciting with the other monies freed up

I won't be upset at all. I don't think it's unrealistic to expect that he, if healthy, could post 2-4 WAR. He's done it before, and if he's finally tapping into some of the power that was always expected of him, he could be a nice asset. Plus his defense isn't too shabby. I wouldn't go all SCS, but I wouldn't be at all bothered to see him signed to a 2/5-6 deal. Even if things don't go as well as they could, you could do worse finding a fourth OF.
