Yes Jay threw the INT, but he got held as he threw it. Might have been a bad WR route too. If Jay goes 32/16 TDs/INTs I will be extremely happy.

And again, it was against one of the top defenses in the league (and, perhaps more importantly given our recent history, an even better defensive line).

Kyle Long had a rough start to the game, IMO. Missed a blitz pickup, got beat on a couple other plays. But he really had a strong game from the mid 2nd quarter on, especially on the move. He and Mills could really be special. Mills gave up some stuff to Dunlap, but nothing major.

A lot of offensive communication issues. I think Trestman dumbed down the offense a little to make it to halftime. Then he opened it up some. This offense should be middle of the pack, at least if they get those issues taken care of. Jeffery is legit. Bennett had an early drop, but him not being Kellen Davis immediately makes this team a lot better. And he did make a couple big catches.

Not worried about the defense. AJ Green is not on the schedule anymore. Hopefully the rest of the DL will come to play.

Calvin Johnson, however, is. Twice. :? Can't play like that again.

Yeah, but he's just a big strong possession guy without the big speed threat that Green is. Peanut has always matched up well against those guys.

Just let Cutler's scrambling and downfield ability be part of the mix.

That was never really in question you silly loon.

You're a funny guy. I like you.

You realize he ran a 4.35 40 at the combine, right?

Yep, Green is a much tougher assignment for Peanut than Calvin Johnson.

Hope Peanut is ok health-wise. And I hope Melton and Peppers struggles were related to not having a full preseason, as raw suggested.

Maybe it's a matter of expectations, but I was thrilled with Long. I expected him to get beat a lot more. All things considered, I feel like today was a best-case scenario for him, with the latter part of the game being stronger -- suggesting he's adjusting and learning as he goes.

Why? Because he's skinnier and weaker? He's not faster.

Any good to great receiver is going to destroy a secondary if the QB isn't pressured. Plus the Bears have always given up yards. I hope Peppers is OK. Wasn't Wooten playing against a backup LT too?

You're right about this. The line was a big problem today.

They gave up 21 points though. It's not like the end result was a score-fest.

I didn't like much of what I saw from the D Line, but in the end it wasn't a disaster.

Because they got turnovers at very opportune times...which, granted, has been their MO...but the Bengals were moving the ball at will for the vast majority of the game and the Bears didn't get a sack until a coverage sack late in the 4th.

Green is a quicker twitch athlete.

ETA: Raw said it better.

If u read my blog you would know! :hello: Green is quicker, twitchier, and thinner Peanut goes for a bump with him and misses, Green's gone. CJ is faster, but is a much bigger target, thus easier to slow down.

Yeah, it's been a thing with the defense. Do they need the turnovers to succeed? But if so, then how come they just keep getting them? You would think it might even out, but it doesn't happen. *knock on wood*

Dalton's efficiency in the 2nd half was worrisome. Luckily his team committed dumb penalties and turnovers to help out the Bears but they seemed to have a very solid gameplan to attack the Bears D. Hopefully the pass rush improves in the coming weeks because that would change things.

Relying on turnovers is fine, but you can't rely on them with almost no pass rush.

i'm shocked we ended up with only 17 fewer yards than them

I know that no one really cares, but is Gould approaching GOAT?
