What happened with Starlin?

After he caught the pop-up(a moment after ump indicated infield fly rule) he relaxed and looked down, giving Jay the head start to beat the throw home by half a step.

pop into left, infield fly called, he caught it and jogged a few steps without looking while the runner on third ran home. Threw home too late to get him. Replaced after the inning ended.

Castro is trying way too hard to fix our infield prospect roster crunch situation. Somebody needs to tell him that some of those guys aren't going to pan out.

I think Barney had a chance at 3rd if he took off after slowing down 15 feet shy of the bag.

I thought the same, he might've been able to get behind Freese.

Atrocious strike 3 call on Lake.

That's what I was thinking also. At that point you at least have to go for it. He got what he wanted in getting DeJesus to second, at least try to get to third.

It seems oddly intentional that Barney isn't the one at SS here.

Contrary to popular belief, the idea is not to get punitive justice for mistakes, it's to keep them from happening again.

Non punitive adjustments aren't working. Seriously, how hard is it to remember how many out there are and what the hell am I going to do if I get a ball hit toward me.

He made a mistake and took for granted that the runner wouldn't tag. Stuff like yanking him on the spot or benching him for several games are just ideas to make you feel better.

I can't blame Dale for taking Castro out. You can tell he's trying to make up for his shitty hitting by ranging far on pop ups but he's got to either let Lake catch that or not assume the runner won't be advancing when he's that far away from the infield. You can't have that. Still, I'm going to be annoyed when he's roundly boo'd at the convention and all of the fans that will claim they're done with him.

Was it as bad as it sounded on radio?

[expletive] Molina.

Dale Sveum could always demote him to Iowa.

It was a brain fart. If he was hitting .300 it wouldn't be such a talking point and Dale wouldn't have benched him.
