I completely understand why everyone ranks Lindor ahead of Baez, but I wonder how many would make the trade straight up if they were running the Cubs and it was on the table.

if the cubs had more power bats in place at the infield/outfield corners, i'd probably do it. but i wouldn't do it given the way that the cubs are currently constructed. they already have a shortstop who doesn't hit for much power but has a solid glove and good contact skills. baez has the type of bat where, if he pans out, he can still be really valuable shifting over to 3b. lindor and castro lose too much value shifting off of shortstop. and the cubs could really use one or multiple players who project to have 30 home run power, which baez does.

Maples, you beautiful SOB. Should they send him back to KC?

I wouldn't mess with a good thing. Let him finish at Boise, get him some more innings in instructs, and then re-evaluate in the Spring. He's the kind of prospect who'll rocket through the minors if he can do this on a regular basis.

Has Olt even got a hit since he came over?

Three or four, I think.

Unless you buy into the theory that the real Mike Olt died and Texas managed to salvage some value by trading an imposter who had taken his identity.

The new market inefficiency is trading prospects to the Cubs who aren't real living people.

@conorglassey @davidrelliott I’m on the side & the scoreboard gun is crappy, so it’s tough to judge. Maples’ delivery looked a lot better than HS though.

‏@conorglassey This @BoiseHawks pitching staff is loaded! Blackburn, Scott Frazier, Maples, Masek, Paniagua, Skulina, Underwood, Wagner & Zastryzny. #Cubs

@conorglassey Holy crap Kris Bryant just DESTROYED a ball. Over the scoreboard here in Everett. My night is made. #Cubs

@BoiseHawksRadio Everett 3, @BoiseHawks 1 (End 4) - Paniagua throwing hard (sitting 94-95)

EDIT: For reference, that scoreboard is ~375 feet away from the plate.

@BoiseHawksRadio: After further review (and consulting the EVT media), Kris Bryants homer cleared the scoreboard and net and landed on the street in CF

I want Bryant and Almora to Daytona ASAP. I think both could handle the jump.

almora would injure himself on the trip
