Lake jerseys could be selling rather soon. May you never see the minors again, kid.

Wouldn't it be great to see Lake blow up and go all [expletive] Puig on us?

In any case, nice to see him getting a hot start.

Lake actually has a little Puig in him. Super-athletic righthanded bat with pop and zero patience whatsoever. He's fun to watch right now for sure.

Unsustainable babip as well.

Edit: Not that I mean to be sour about the boy.

Hollandsworth comped Lake to both Puig and Vlad Guerrero in a span of 30 seconds...

Gross. Now I feel dirty. Game thread fervor aside.

It's very fun to have someone actually step in and rake out of the gate. Lake is going to be Mark DeRosa in the very best case scenario, but I'm enjoying the ride thus far.

Speaking of Puig, I took a look to see how he's coming along. His July: 68 PA, .250/.279/.344, 23 K, 3 BB

All I know is that Junior has a passion for the game and his talent is undeniable. His ceiling his very high. I'm loving the progress throughout the entire minor league system.

His ceiling isn't very high

I don't think ceiling isn't his problem, he has huge potential (based on his tools). The issue is that his game is so unrefined, though it's improving. He's pretty much the definition of a boom or bust player.

It's too bad Lake couldn't have come up a month sooner so he could get get strong All Star consideration after less than 100 PAs.

Do you realize how that Puig was at like 2 WAR in the month that led to that campaigning? It wasn't undeserved.

The point is that it was a month. Guys don't get voted to the All Star game for a great April, which is essentially what would have happened had Puig been voted in. It would have been dumb. I wouldn't have cared and didn't even watch the game, but it would have been dumb.

It doesn't matter if it's a month if he put up 2 [expletive] wins in that month. It's a counting stat and it is an absolutely absurd amount to put up in a month.

Obviously it wasn't enough and he did end up coming up short, but there were probably less deserving all stars who did make it (something that happens every year due to the nature of selections). It was a spectacular month and it wasn't ridiculous at all for him to be in the conversation.
