Just remember that these guys who were drafted out of high school are incredibly raw. Even the guys in Rookie ball that never make the next level are probably better than I'd guess a good 80some% of the guys he'd be facing if he went the college route.

See had we made the trade when we should have, the triple play never would have happened, the I Cubs would have had a big 2nd inning and a 7-2 win, and Arrieta would have given up only 1 run instead of 4, earning him the call up to take Garza's place next week instead of Chris Rusin. Fate's a cruel bitch. You may not think she follows minor league ball, but she does.

Again, Underwood was considered raw to begin with and just turned 19 yesterday. I'd temper expectations on him for a while. He's a guy that likely is just going to take longer to develop.

If you want a silver lining, after double and HR in the 1st, the rest of his 6 hits were singles. Went 4 innings and had a 8/2 GB/FB.

I agree. His velocity is good, but he is raw. I would not be surprised to seem him start next year with Boise again.

 

BTW - Anyone know the where-abouts of Blackburn?
