Daytona is delayed by rain.

I think it might currently be the least interesting team we have in the minors now.

Amazing what a couple weeks'll do.

So Almora's issue yesterday was hemorrhoids.

So I tell my girlfriend this and mention that he's 19 yrs old. She's a nurse and immediately responds, sort of sheepishly, "So is he, um, you know?". I told her I have no idea if a Cubs outfield prospect is gay, but I was thoroughly amused that that was the immediate medical thought that came to her mind.

Gay guys usually have better style than that stupid thing he has on his chin.

their offense is incredibly dull. who's the best prospect? devoss, geiger, radenmacher? yuck.

the azl cubs' offense is also pretty useless.

Didn't he get engaged around spring training this year?

And then broke it off.

@M_Montemurro Well, apparently Almora is feeling better. He hits a hard single to LF in his first at-bat & then steals second base. Almora scores on a 2B.

@M_Montemurro Almora inside outs a pitch through the hole at 2nd for another single. He showed good patience, taking the first two pitches of the at-bat.

@M_Montemurro In his 3rd at-bat, Almora draws 5-pitch walk. Quad City's Cain has been pounding pitches inside against Almora all game. Almora besting him.

@M_Montemurro Almora improves to 3 for 3 today with a single to CF. He again was ahead in the count before getting the hit.

@M_Montemurro Almora finishes 3 for 4 as Cougars' DH w/3 singles, one walk, two runs & a stolen base. Don't recall Almora having a swing & miss all game.

Also:

@M_Montemurro Rivero, 25, allowed a full count walk to the first batter he faced with two outs and then served up a grand slam. Pretty spotty command.

Easily. Tennessee and Kane County had the depth all along. Daytona basically had our two top prospects (2/3 when Almora returned) and later added Johnson. Beyond that, they have a lot of fringe and filler. Take away one of the two to injury, and the other to a promotion, and it's no surprise that they lose their luster. All they really have left is Johnson and to a lesser extent, Wells and Cates.

zastryzny's first inning:

Wilfredo Rodriguez flies out to right fielder Yasiel Balaguert.

Sean Dwyer called out on strikes.

Alec Mehrten walks.

Ben Waldrip strikes out swinging.

announcer really liked his offspeed stuff.

Is Junior Lake gonna come up this year?

He should be up by September at the very latest. Obviously there's a chance he gets called up tomorrow once Hairston is traded but I think they'd prefer to get him more regular at bats which he won't get in the big leagues right now.

Not sure why not. As of now, we have two serviceable OFs in Soriano and Schierholtz. He could also get some time at 3rd vs. lefties.
