Ray Emery very likely moving on from Chicago, looking for bigger role, chance at 1 or 1a spot. I'd put Philly as front-runner.

This always made more sense. The rumors he was staying were weird.

i'd have much preferred 3 years on leddy. now he's set to become a free agent at the same time as toews/kane.

Toews/Kane shouldn't get massive, team gutting raises this time though.

And Emery goes to the Flyers.

We re-signed Handzus to a one year deal. Don't understand that at all.

With Bolland gone, I'm not surprised.

I like it.

it's only 1 million. it's depth at our weakest position for an inconsequential price.

I like Handzus. He's slow as [expletive], but he "knows how to play the game". A phrase I hate using, but seems to really apply to him.

his game-tying goal in game 6 of the Detroit series was maybe the most clutch goal i've ever seen. just a calm move.

They only make 6.3 a piece. Getzlaf/Perry signed for 8.5 during the season I think. team gutting no...but will be somewhat of a challenge. Hawks are in good shape capwise though.

awesome.

also, after today's deals i'm thinking that bickell definitely left money on the table to stay.

Handzus probably slots into Mayer's role last year and will spend a lot of time in the press box. For the money, he'll be fine in that role.

Roszival getting 2 years doesn't excite me, nor will it keep me awake at night. It buys more time for the young guys to develop. Roszival was good this year, we'll see what he brings next year over a full season.

Both of these guys played better than we could have expected, particularly in the playoffs. I'm a little skeptical that they can do it again but neither will hurt the Hawks. Instead they'll provide some balance between youth and veterans.

Chicago Blackhawks ‏@NHLBlackhawks 2m

The Blackhawks decided to hold G Antti Raanta out of today's drills for precautionary reasons related to a minor injury. #HawksProspectCamp

They had 7 goalies in camp so hopefully it's no big deal

Potentially a bigger deal, Kevin Hayes wasn't at camp due to an injury but tweeted that he was playing golf with his brother. Oops.

Tweeted that he just landed in Chicago about 2 hours ago for prospect camp.

Why isn't he just the backup? Would like to get him some experience before they let Crawford go after next season. Bulin seems unnecessary.

Crow now has the prestige of being a Cup winner, for what that's worth (ask M.A. Fleury), but I doubt he'll go out next year and match his numbers from this year. He won't break the bank, especially in a league that has a glut of goalies at the moment. I'm not saying the Hawks will pay him, but I think it's a bit early to assume he's gone after next year.

Although sweet Jesus I just saw Rask got 8/56. Crow must be drooling.

That's a horrible deal for Boston. The Blackhawks better never give a goalie anywhere near a deal like that.
