When's the draft?

The hockey draft was the only one I never got into amongst the four major sports - probably because I never saw any of the draft prospects beforehand.

today. most people that don't live in canada or states that border canada have little visibility into junior hockey

Bowman on trades: "We're not really close to anything. That could change in 10 minutes if I go talk to a guy and they change their tune."

#Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman says Nick Leddy and Marcus Kruger aren't as urgent because they're restricted free agents. "Shortly," he said.

Bowman: "We're looking to get picks. ... I'm not really worried about salary. We used our buyouts and we're in a good spot financially."

“We’re talking,” Bowman said. “It’s looking good for Bick, but we’re not there yet. It certainly hasn’t broken down at all. I think we understand where they’re at, and they know where we’re at, and we’re trying to find a common ground.”

Bolland traded to Leafs.

#Blackhawks gets No. 51, No. 117 and a fourth-rounder in 2014 for Dave Bolland.

Salary relief and 3 picks. Had to be done.

Like our chances at keeping Bickell now.

Now Frolik to Winnipeg for more picks. Wow. $2.3M is a lot to pay a fourth liner I guess but we didn't really have cap troubles after the Bolland deal.

I'm not a fan of the Frolik trade.

He was great on the penalty kill, but he was making a ton of money for a 4th liner. We save almost $6 million with Bolland and Frolik traded away. Both can be replaced, IMO.

So, lots of cap room after these trades. Maybe this rumor wasn't as crazy as I thought it was?

Ridiculous rumors...lol...

Two sources have confirmed that the Hawks have had discussions about bringing Vinny LeCavalier in on a 1-year deal. It is at best a longshot for a variety of obvious reasons.

yeah, Frolik was a good glue guy, and a luxury to have in the playoffs. but, these are the types of moves you have to make in today's NHL.

So where are we at cap wise after getting rid of Montador, Olesz, Bolland and Frolik?

@ESPNChiHawks: Blackhawks now have $13,545,705 of cap space, according to http://t.co/diXS7NS2sW.

I'm not saying I like the Frolik trade, just don't understand it yet. Interested to see the direction Stan goes with the fourth line.

But remember we still have Smith, Hayes (both of them) and Pirri waiting for their chance. As someone said, this is how it works these days.
