I'd take Bros before him “@Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: #Orioles agree to acquire Norris from #Astros for Hoes and another piece. Finalizing now"

Well ... depending on the third piece, that's actually, at first glance, a solid move for the Orioles. Hoes is nice, but really feels more like a super-util type, IMO, so if the third piece isn't a big time guy, it seems ... like a good gamble for them.

Wonder if the Competitive Balance Pick that the Astros got was as attractive as Hoes to them.

Apropos of nothing: the deadline being at 3 PM is stupid. They need to move it back to midnight.

why? There's no point in midnight.

At least later in the day than 3pm. I remember sitting in the drive-thru at a Steak-n-Shake when the Nomar deal happened. Now, I'm just stuck in my office, pretending to work, while watching twitter/nsbb.

The deadline was exactly the same during the Nomar deal.

It was on a Saturday in 2004, so thats why he remembers being out of work.

I could have swore the Nomar deal wasn't announced until after the deadline. It may have been done, but I remember The Score breaking the news and I thought it was past the deadline and came out of nowhere.

He didn't say he was sitting in the drive thru after 3pm.

Still remember Gammons reporting on ESPN that Nomar wasn't going anywhere just as news of the trade popped up on the side bar/bottom line.

Yeah I remember listening to the radio at 3:00 and hearing nothing was happening, then accepting that the Cubs didnt do anything, and then getting a text from a friend of mine who is a Red Sox fan saying "Wow, enjoy Nomar" like 30-45 mins later.

Sad that the Nomar trade didnt work out because that was one of the greatest moments that I've had as a Cubs fan.

I still remember him saying "The question isn't if Mike Lowell will be a Cub, it's when Mike Lowell will be a Cub." back in '03.

This should make anyone who was worried that they wouldn't try next year happy.

It was when looking up the Lowell rumors that I found this site.

I didn't sign up until around the Lee trade, though.

Oh, I definitely am. Russell, Barney, Schierholtz, DeJesus, Villanueva all in line to be coming back. Still could be moved, but this was by far the most likely "dump them for prospects" moment.

Post 2011 offseason, the Cubs front office is on a remarkable streak of doing exactly what I hoped for.

It was reported as being worked on all day and officially announced an hour after the deadline.
