How much of that can be addressed by Soriano finding some power and Hairston's luck turning around?

If some of the still-cold bats heat up while the pitching stays strong, this team is going to be able to push over .500 at some point.

I'm still skeptical about this team's potential as-is. I think this is a good enough pitching staff to make a run, but I just don't think the offense is good enough. Even if Barney climbs out of his black hole and certain guys go on hot streaks, players like Castillo and Schierholtz aren't going to keep hitting like this.

Don't get me wrong, the Cubs can build around this offense. They're just not there yet.

Just have to look at the BP adjusted standings and playoff odds report and belieeeeeeve. The playoff odds report has a simulated .490 wp% right now, so you have to figure a a run-in with .500 is pretty likely in that projection system. However, the chance of a sell-off and the lack of ready players in the upper minors has me a little pessimistic on those chances as well.

I'm watching the Rockies broadcast on MLB EI. The Rockies play-by-play guy keeps saying day-hay-SOOS. It is annoying me more than it likely should be.

Well maybe I'm just not doing it justice with the phonetic spelling. That guy wasn't saying it the same way that Len or Pat say it. The emphasis was all wrong.
