I'm glad Bruce Miles is taking shots at Dale's idiotic comments about demoting Castro and Rizzo.

I missed that while bailing out my basement. What did Dale say?

@BruceMiles2112 #Cubs Castro extends the hit streak to 13 games. #performance

@BruceMiles2112 Press box wags want to know if Castro's streak continues or is put on hold when he is sent to Iowa. #Cubs

@BruceMiles2112 Rizzo hits his 6th homer. That might have landed in the river in Des Moines. #Cubs

@BruceMiles2112 Obviously, the talk of sending players to minors is working with Castro and Rizzo. #Cubs #genius

@BruceMiles2112 Future I-Cubs give #Cubs a 2-0 lead in the third.

@sahadevsharma 13 game hitting streak, so obviously #DemoteCastro

@sahadevsharma Two-run shot from Rizzo... #DemoteRizzo

@cwyers Um... kay? RT @PWSullivan Sveum says it's not out of the question to demote Castro and Rizzo to Triple-A. http://trib.in/Ze1FTz

@cwyers I may bypass the Twitter rant about Sveum and write a full-blown article.

Maybe Iowa and Chicago could just exchange rosters.

I look forward to Bogusevic batting cleanup.

It might all be a plot to get Lillibridge back to the big leagues.

Per Gameday 'Scout'

Dangerous count for Scott Feldman; Alex Gonzalez is a dead-red fastball hitter, with a .541 OPS against them this season and .433 against everything else.

Hahahaha.

I'm probably going to catch a ton of [expletive] for this, but is anyone else starting to have some pretty extreme doubts about Castro being anything more than a good player? The defense has improved, but the bat has done very little improving over the last 3 years. He's still extremely young and a a 3 to 4 WAR SS is nice to have, but I was expecting a guy who was somewhere between Hanley and Edgar Renteria. Edited by Tryptamine

I always have nagging concerns, but I'm going to give it another year or two before I start to worry too much. It is frustrating that he's essentially the same player he was when he entered the league, but he's young enough that I'm not giving up on the breakout just yet.

Checking what Renteria was doing at Castro's age, Renteria averaged a 1.66 WAR through his age 23 season and had already accumulated two sub-1 WAR seasons.

It's definitely possible Castro doesn't take the next step in his game but he's still young enough that I don't think it's unreasonable to expect improvement.

I'm not writing him off, but it is really disheartening to see almost zero improvement from him at the plate.
