man I wanted kosuke to be amazing

I was so excited when we brought him over with the Ichiro/Hideki Matsui hybrid comps.

YES, THIS. That's remember hearing more than once; I think SI did a pretty big write up about him basically saying the same thing, too.

And then Tanaka gets labeled a mid-rotation starter.

Who labelled Tanaka mid-rotation starter?? I saw a lot of #2, possible ace but not quite as good as Yu.

Most labeled him a #2 best case scenario which kind of leads one to put him as very possible mid-rotation starter- if he falls below of his ceiling.

Although we really won't know because of his injury, despite his start Tanaka had fallen off a bit in his last starts. He had lost 3 of 4, and only one was a good start. In the other 3 he gave up 3,4 and 5 earned runs, and had from 1.99 to 2.50.

We'll never know for sure if it was just a down cycle, or due to the injury or he was being figured out a bit.

Didn't Cashman call him a 4 after they signed him?

I DVRd the start while at volleyball thinking watching good cubs baseball would be fun. Steve stone and the fun of a shutout being ruined by facing Keith Ginter as their 5th hitter. Oh and now chip is talking about being 8 games back of the cardinals. Oh and Rey ordonez is at short. I'm out

And Macias is at 3B

And Ordonez is hitting SECOND

But I did get to see Sammy and Moises homer already

not sure which between the 03-04 teams and the 07-08 teams I remember more fondly.

07-08 seems like [expletive] yesterday in some ways while 03-04 just seems ancient now.

OH MY GOD ITS BROOKS KIESCHNICK

The only reason I remember Kieschnick is I believe Corey Patterson took him yard in the 16th or something of a 2003 (?) game in Milwaukee to win.

03 has Sammy and Prior, but 04 has tragic Sammy and Prior. They also have Dusty Baker and Steve Stone.
