Neyer pushing the SSR plan

You know, if Jake Arrieta's for real, the @Cubs might be closer than we thought. According to me, anyway: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/if-arrieta-s-for-real-cubs-might-be-closer-than-we-thought-070114

Or the cubinny plan.

Kris Davis is, at this moment, the top Rookie of the Year candidate in 2015.

(good job moving this post - I thought you were theorizing a reason for Fox Sports to get involved in the TV talk again)

Olt was eaten by a whale in this scenario

after he drowns

Send him down, call up Valaika, let AAA deal with him.

I'd much rather let Olt tread water in hopes of figuring it out then call up Donnie Murphy Jr.

It's not doing anyone any good keeping Olt on the big club at this point, especially since he's not getting consistent PAs. He's almost certainly doomed, but if there's even a glimmer of hope, he needs to get PAs. His confidence has to be in tatters, so there's not really any harm in sending him down.

It may have to wait until the deadline, but I say jettison Barney, send Olt to Iowa and let him play 1B, make Valbuena the full time 3B (which he already is for all intents and purposes) and call up Alcantara and give him 2B.

Agree on all. Maybe you can still trade Barney to someone who desperately needs late-inning defensive help at 2B.

I'd bet most of this will happen after the ASB. I don't think they'll get rid of Barney until the offseason.

Since we started 13-26, we are now 24-20 in the last 44 games.

Red Sox reach new low as Cubs finish sweep

But the Red Sox lost — no, actually, they were annihilated, 16-9, and swept in a three-game series by the lowly Cubs — last night at Fenway Park.

.447 w% vs .446, these teams are equals.

With the Cubs being in a much tougher division. Boston can just die.

The Cubs moved to the AL East?
