Re: Baez, as much as I find it extremely unlikely he is called up this year, I find it even more unlikely that he'd be called up just for September.

Yeah, I viewed him as a June/July callup or not until the super two cutoff next year.

Meh. This team could win 10 in a row and we'd all know they still suck. The roster just isn't very good and that's not hard to tell.

Until the young guys come up and/or Ricketts decides to open up the wallet some the Cubs will continue to suck. Castro and Rizzo are the only offensive players worth a damn and the pitching staff is leaky outside Shark, Wood, and Hammel.

Poor Edwin Jackson.

Anyone else notice how the Cubs, Blackhawks and the White Sox all fell apart late in the game and allowed their opponents to come from behind and win?

Noticed it with the Cubs and Hawks.

I never notice what happens to the White Sox because I don't give a flying [expletive] about them.

I noticed it happening to the Blackhawks and I laughed and laaaaaughed and laaaaaaaaughed.

I didn't notice it happening to the Blackhawks because hockey is irrelevant.

Here's something you might like more than the Blackhawks then

I saw Julian Green trending on Twitter and was really confused but somewhat believed it because of the renovation stuff that came out.

Why are so many players with sub .290 OBPs on pace for really solid fWARs?

Have you taken a look at replacement level this year?

Stealing this from PSD.

Lake in May:

.344/.354/.574 with a 26.2 K rate (and 3.1% walk rate)

of course that's with a .419 BABIP

We need some PEDs stat.

Or just more pitcher injuries.

At the risk of sounding stupid, who is that?

Sorry. I'm, uh, a little foggy on the specifics.

So what does it take? Stanton is just what we need. Hell, he's just what everyone needs, but he's the type of cornerstone that sends the message to fans on free agents alike that we're ready to go. We have a top 5 farm last I checked, which is likely to get better by the winter following the draft and whatever we get out of any summer trades.
