Yeah, come up with some more, Kyle. This has been the best day we've had. Alcantara, with some pop, becomes a very exciting guy to me.

pop and hopefully more walks too. agreed, he's pretty interesting.

also liking the idea of stephen bruno as an offensive-minded 2b.

Torreyes took a walk his final PA today. I feel extremely confident that if we can trade Barney for a solid return, we're going to be OK at 2B, with someone from the system longterm, even if we aren't sure which guy it is yet.

I like our chances between Amaya, Hernandez, Bruno, Torreyes, Alcantara, and Watkins. Did I forget anyone?

No walk for Watkins his 3rd PA. 2 run shot instead.

GTFO, Brent. Call up Watkins now

Sadly for all of us aboard the Watkins Wagon, Darwin Barney is also playing tonight. He's 1-3 so far, btw.

Brett Jackson is 1-2 with a triple, BB and of course, a strikeout.

No clue whatsoever about what Yoanner Negrin throws, but in 3 innings tonight for Iowa, he's given up 2 hits and K'd 8.

Yea no clue who he is. Apparently been with the Cubs the whole way up the ladder since 2011, but he was also 27 when he signed...

Edit: Apparently he's from Cuba?

From memory, he's not over-powering. 88-91, but deceptive. Whatever he's doing in the early going, it's working.

Yeah, he was signed the same year we got Silva and Cabezas, I think. And that Bonne guy we've already cut.

Baez could possibly wind up there or Starlin, if Baez pushes him off. Villanueva was thought to have the ability to play there as well a few years back, but he's probably gotten too wide now. Saunders? Very slim shot, I guess.

raisin, what have you read about candelario's defense at third so far this year?

Not Raisin, but he's in excellent shape, looks quicker, has soft hands anywsy, looks like he's got a solid shot at sticking at 3rd.

Yeah, he's shown improvement this season and it seems a lot of that can be traced to him being in better shape.

Haha - after Taiwan Easterling was ejected for arguing balls and strikes in the first inning, Micah Gibbs replaced him in left field.

Candelario has walked 7 times in his last 3 games. 7 times in 14 plate appearances. If he really can stick at 3rd and start adding the power he projects to have, he may be the Cubs most "can't miss" prospect. He's not even 19 1/2 yet and hitters that young who exhibit that type of patience, power, and ability to play a premier position in a full season league, usually are in pretty good shape for ML success in the future.

Hasn't he been kicked to the OF pretty much full time?

I bet it was one sexy display of arguing balls and strikes.know. Horse. Beaten. Dead.

Jeffrey Baez with 4 singles, Trevor Gretzky, Luis Acosta and Francisco Sanchez hit doubles, Jorge Soler went 0/3 with a K and Josh Conway threw three scoreless yesterday.

Rehabbing pitchers Jose Rosario and Matt Loosen also pitched.

AZ Phil suggested the two lineups were likely the Mesa and Boise lineups if things stay the same (with the exception of Bote who was promoted mid-game and Soler, who better not be in Boise come June).
