Bijan Rademacher with a walk off single to score Rock Shoulders. Kane County wins it 6-5 in 10, it's their first win of the season.

watkins adds a double, but it was a ground ball.

pretty boring start to the season so far, except for soler and a couple lesser guys. we need to get almora/vizcaino/paniagua/vitters in there

Very few BBs for our top hitting prospects.

I'll go ahead and jump on the Watkins bandwagon. Barney being expendable would make for a more interesting trade deadline.

Agree completely. As far as our top hitting prospects go, Soler is much more disciplined than I would have thought. Brett has discipline, thats about the only thing I'm not worried about longterm with him.

Soler's got two walks this season and Jackson has none. Baez and Vogelbach have none. This is the year I'm kind of hoping to see that our organization can teach and improve plate discipline, and that's not a great start. Crazy early, of course.

If you take 1 walk in half your games, that's a pretty good ratio.

Yeah, kind of like it's not worth bringing up yet, huh?

Of course it's worth bringing up.

There's a whole continuum between "meaningless" and "completely predictive of underlying talent." After this many games, I'd put it under "worth noting and coming back to later."

You're 4 or 5 games into a season. Bring it up after 20. Right now, it just shows signs of something else you're itching to bitch about and blame the FO for.

Exactly. If this were something you wanted to see out of them, then you'd have no problem noting a potentially interesting trend this early.

Well, prepare to be disappointed in not being able to moan on this one. Unless you're going to expect Baez to all of a sudden develop into a walk machine. The rest will be just fine. As will Javy, just not going to be a walk machine. I suspect he'll be in the 5% range and likely stay there.

*Shrug* We'll find out. You're absolutely right that if it's nothing, it'll bear out over the season. Somehow, if it was 10 BB in the same time period, you'd find the tidbit a lot more interesting and less objectionable.

Nights without Daytona games are boring as hell.
