Where is Kyler Burke? I don't see him on any rosters

He's likely hurt, given Arizona Phil's reports during spring training.

Looking forward to seeing how Loux and Lendy do today.

I'm actually more interested with Dae-Eun Rhee (not saying I'd rank him over Loux ... or Lendy, just interest level is higher) than those two, but maybe that's me. They kept Rhee in the rotation, and I'm curious if his stuff is showing closer to what he had in 2011.

I think there's an unwarranted excitement over Loux based on how high he was drafted. He was overdrafted and to top that off, his stuff has regressed since then.

There's probably some SNTS with Loux. But the results are still there, and the upper minors are completely devoid of anything resembling a future MLB starter save Cabrera, so I can understand the eagerness to see him action.

Indeed he is. He was listed as being placed on the 7-day DL by BA. Michael Jensen was also placed on the 7-day DL, so that's where he is.

Another name I came across was Marcelo Carreno. I completely forgot that we acquired him in the Baker deal. He, too, was placed on the 7-day DL.

I do like having Loux, but my thinking is that a big part of the excitement over him is the thought of seemingly getting something for nothing as a throw in-to be honest, at this point I don't remember if it was for Dempster or Soto.

The Cubs got Christian Villanueva and Kyle Hendricks for Ryan Dempster.

Initially, they got Jake Brigham for Geovany Soto but were able to exchange Brigham for Barret Loux because of Brigham's poor health.

Not that it'll amount to much, but we still have a PTBNL or cash coming from the Rangers in the Soto/Loux deal as well.

Heh heh, says something about Loux when a guy like Rhee may be as or more interesting.

Not from today, but interesting that Mark Reed was still in relief for Daytona. He'd been mentioned as a possible breakout guy, and he's got a good arm, so I'd thought they might want to give him some innings. May not be a good sign for him.

Heh... It's Austin, not Mark (though both are from the same area of suburban Los Angeles). Austin is Daytona's closer so at least he's getting what's viewed as important relief innings.

I'd say Lendy is the most interesting since he has the best stuff. I can't help but think neither Loux nor Rhee's arms will recover to pre-injury levels. Also, I imagine Rhee is really Tennessee's 6th starter and only getting a chance because Loosen was left behind in Mesa.

Castillo struck out two and walked one in the first - had three 3-ball counts in his first inning. Slider sounds good on the radio feed.

(Must be the earliest I've switches from the big league team to a minor league broadcast in the season.)

A Zapata walk, an Amaya single and a Vogelbach sac fly gives the Cougars their first lead of the season. Candelario and Shoulders end the inning by each striking out.

Cougars up 2-1 after 2.

Castillo gave up a run via a leadoff double/sac fly. Kane County regained the lead on a Krist double, Chen bunt single and a Krist scored on a Darvill fielder's choice (he just beat out a DP).

2 more for Kane County in the 4th, they're now up 4-1.

They scored this way: Krist single, another Chen bunt single, sacrifice bunt by Darvill, 2-RBI single by Rademacher.

Lendy Castillo: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 4-2 GO-FO. His slider is good but he's really struggling with FB command.

Castillo's final line: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 5-3 GO-FO. He ended his day with a 1-2-3 fifth inning. Brian Smith now in the game.

Yea I'm not super high on Loux or anything, but I am curious to see how he does in Iowa. I've never been a big fan of Rhee's, to be perfectly honest.

Gioskar Amaya gets his first A-ball triple. 2/4 day thus far, hope he's warming up.

FYI, Marco Hernandez has the day off.
