Also, that's exactly what Jurrjens is, another Germano type.

Let me tell you something. We're gonna track this Germano down, ok? And we're going to take a flier on him.

Gillespie seems like a nice stopgap lefty masher, especially since there aren't any real options in Iowa and we're currently having to play at least one LH OF we picked up off waivers this year(Sweeney, Borbon, Bogusevic) against LHP.

you look at his minor league numbers and you have to wonder why he never really made it out of AAA

NSBB favorite Chris Cotillo is saying that the Cubs and Phillies are interested in bringing back old pal Mike Wuertz. He's currently in the Atlantic league and didn't pitch professionally last year. I think that was partially due to injury but I can't seem to find details.

Chicago #Cubs will call up 3B Junior Lake from Triple-A.

Could be legit based on followers and who's following him. Does some work for ESPN apparently.

Jorge Castillo of the Newark Star-Ledger writes that the Mets "will need to be overwhelmed with an offer" in order to trade Marlon Byrd.

Byrd has provided unexpected production this season, batting .271/.316/.502 with 15 homers and 51 RBI. He's also owed just $280,000 for the remainder the season. Still, it's odd that the Mets wouldn't take advantage by getting something for him now while his bat is hot, as the 35-year-old isn't part of their long-term plans. "A guy like Marlon, he’s not costing us a lot of money, there’s the question then of what kind of talent we might be able to get back," GM Sandy Alderson said. "It’s still very important for us to try to be competitive because, regardless of what happens, this has been about changing perception and about what people can anticipate going into the future."

Really? Overwhelmed? You bought a lottery ticket and now you don't want to cash it in?

Hehe,

@keithlaw They can go get Scott Hairston, and then refuse to trade him again next July. RT @Mania715: what could the mets get for 2+ years of parnell?

I hate that the glove throwing gif only exists in like 8 pixels by 8 pixels format.

The play sucked but Lilly's reaction will always get a chuckle out of me.

Cubs trade Guillermo Moscoso to the Giants for a PTBNL or cash, according to Hank Schulman on Twitter.

I wonder what kind of money a team actually gets in situations like this? I think we've done 4 of these deals now this year, with Moscoso, Lillibridge, Gonzalez, and Takahashi. If it nets an extra 100k or more per deal, it could conceivably turn itself into a mid level IFA signing, I guess.

Impossibly badass. Lilly's dead-eyed psycho-face ruled.

Any interest in Tony Sipp, who was DFA'd today by Arizona? He'd likely have to be dealt for, but I doubt it'd take much obviously. Relatively decent lefty with 2 years of control left and is making around 1.2 this year.....
