@ChrisCotillo Source: #Cubs decided to trade Clevenger within last 24 hours after disagreement over how injury was handled. Update coming on @mlbdailydish

MLB Daily Dish is the SBNation version of MLB Trade Rumors.

Pretty weird, I would not have guessed Clevenger to be a guy to get in a spat with management over his rehab. Maybe back to back years of extended time out with injury broke him.

how reliable is that? the guy wrote this on his blog:

UPDATE 11:32 PM: Clevenger was placed on the trading block within the last 24 hours after a disagreement with the Cubs over his medical situation, a source has confirmed to MLBDailyDish's Chris Cotillo. Clevenger, who was recently activated from the 60-day disabled list, asked for a second opinion on the injury (which he is entitled to as a 40-man roster player) within the last 24 hours and was immediately put on the trading block and told to pack up his gear.

that seems really odd to me. i mean, i can understand them being willing to trade them, but this makes it sound like they got butt hurt about him wanting a second opinion and basically told him to [expletive] off. hard to imagine the cubs conducting business like that.

This is the High School kid reporting this. Kiley mentioned the IFA stuff and this kid(who actually has broken some very small stuff) tried taking it as his own. He's gaining followers and all that, but I doubt he's right on this. The Dodgers make no sense. Possible? Sure. But this feels like a way to increase his followers to me. Even Clevengers agent thinks he's getting dealt for IFA money.

Background on this Cotillo guy: A year or two ago, there was some dude named Scott Swaim, who used Twitter as MLBInsider and guessed right on a few things before he was found out to be a fraud. There were a ton of those types that popped up, all with MLB Logos as their avatar. Including this guy, but he only reported what real beat guys were saying. He stuck with it, gained a few legit sources, and breaks some very useless [expletive], in all honesty. Like Vlad playing for a semi pro team, type [expletive]. But he has made legit contacts in Rosenthal, Heyman, and others and he's still in High School. He just began writing for the Dish site, and I think he's writing for MLBTR as well. But he's annoying as [expletive] and retweets anyone who complements him.

That's basically what I'm seeing too. This isn't Costillo just repeating vague rumors as facts of his own. He's directly attributing new information to the guy who is apparently Clevenger's agent: Joshua Kusnick.

And Clevenger's agent seems like a bit of a weird, slimy dude himself, and just looking at his twitter feed and his internet history, I find it very plausible he'd answer e-mails from a kid like Costillo.

Clevenger has been on the DL for 10 weeks and has been on rehab for 3 weeks. Does he think he's more hurt than the Cubs do? Seems odd that he'd be asking about a 2nd opinion at this point.

And amazingly, Cotillo now says Clevenger not involved in Dodgers deal. He'll get back around to the Marlins at some point, I guess.

Guess he was right?

about an injury/rehab dispute?

Just meant about Clevenger being on the way out.

Everyone knew he was on his way out when the Des Moines Register beat writer broke the news that Clevenger was sent back to his hotel before last night's Iowa game.

I see...clearly didn't read the thread closely enough to know who was sourcing what.

As soon as Law reported Feldman deal, Cotillo reported that HIS source told him of trade. Said he was on phone gathering the info and didn't see Law's tweet. Imagine that.

He's a total slimey weirdo, but there's a difference between saying "I have a source that says X trade might happen" and directly quoting a player's agent.

He directly attributed specific words to Clevenger's agent. Either he's lying or he's not about it, and I'm surprised no one has addressed it.

The Torreyes thing ... surprises me. I don't mind that much, but it surprised me. Wonder if that means Alcantara is going to be slotted full time at 2nd.

When I went to the game last week I couldn't believe how diminutive Torreyes was compared everyone else. He can't be taller than 5-4.

tiny dude. Still, he has enough positives that this trade, moreso than Feldman, seemed to show their desperation for IFA money.

I'm also mildly curious why Houston did this. As I'm not an Astros fan, I guess I really don't care, but it seems odd that a rebuilding team would, at the expense of IFA money, add a 2nd baseman in AA when their best MLB asset is a young 2nd baseman. Then again, don't care.

You'd have to think they weren't going to spend the money anyway and were happy to acquire whatever they could for the right to not spend that money.
