"We can't get runners home with less than 2 outs" is now going to be a thing all season, even if they never fail at it again.

I don't even know where to look these numbers up, but I'd bet that it's been a problem the last few seasons.

You don't have to look any further than all the bitching and whining that happened in 08 game threads to know that's true.

Coincidentally, having lots of bad hitters has been a problem the last few seasons.

Every set of fans in baseball would say the same thing.

By the way, I agree with everyone that all fans think their team has problems scoring with a runner on third and fewer than two outs.

But I really do think our team has struggled with it as much as anybody the past few seasons. However, as somebody said, it's probably because we haven't had many good hitters.

This game actually put me to sleep, and now I feel like ass.

That's better than those of us who stayed awake feel.

I know it's cold and it's early but....

The right handed order may be one of the worst line-ups this side of Houston.

As for getting guys in with less than 2 outs, if you can't hit with the bases empty, why should we think they will hit with people on?

We had 2 hits. We sent up Hairston, Castillo, Lillibridge and Gonzalez...expectations? yes, putting the ball in play would be nice but you have one semi-proven major league hitter in that lot and that was Hairston, and he has a career ob% of .300 and strikes out about 1 out of every 4 at bats.

Pitching and defense may keep us close but offensively if castro, rizzo and soriano don't do it, it probably isn't getting done.

Lillibridge and Gonzalez are playing because of injuries. Hairston, in the situation you reference (our RH lineup), has a .325 OBP. Anyway, I'm not sure why you pulled his overall OBP because his strength isn't in getting on base. It's slugging. As a platoon player when he has a 122 OPS+ against LHP.

Castillo is the most bizzare inclusion of all. In his limited playing time last year he put a line of 467/532/667 (1.199 OPS) in 42 AB vs LHP. Forty-two at bats is hardly a measuring stick, but to single him out for ONE game is ridiculous.
