Brewers with the first jaw-dropping surprise pick. Good for the Cubs, allows better talent to fall to 45.

It's solid.

Huge upside with Medeiros. Higher than I expected him to go, but he's a definite 1st-round talent.

Actually, if Bukauskas majestically became signable for under 3 mill, he'd be my TOP choice, then Cease and Kopech.

Medeiros at 12, Turner going 13.

Personally, TJS or not, I want Cease more than any of the potential over slot guys. I like Kopech a good amount too.

Love Kopech but I don't see any way he isn't taken in the 1st.

Taking Medieros with Touki, Holmes and Reid-Foley available is so odd.

Take him in the 11th round.

I really like Kyle Schwarber, he could be a big bat in the line-up and seems like a bit of a goofball. You know who else was a goof ball? BABE RUTH. Yep, mhmmm.

I know I'm going to jinx this, but if Touki doesn't get taken in the next 4 or 5 picks does he slide due to demands? I'd need to change my pants if he was there at 45.

There are too many teams with multiple picks to get past right now (KC, BOS, StL).

Thank goodness. I thought Touki was going to go to StL

Reds are going to take Virgina RP Nick Howard, another guy who wouldn't have been on the Cubs board at 45.

Has anyone done the math to figure out what time the cubs next pick will be.

4:30 per pick. 26 more picks to go.

That would be 1 hour and 57 minutes from now, so 9:53ish?

But that doesn't account for all the time they waste on commercials and waiting for Bud to try to walk all the way up to the podium. Plus the potential break after the 1st round and/or after the supplemental round.

10:30ish seems right. Maybe 11.

Edit:

That would make 13 of 19 pitcher picks so far.

How often does a reliever get picked in the first round?

I think the Reds plan on converting him to SP a la Cingrani and Cashner.

That said, it's happening less often these days as teams become smarter. There'll be one more this year - Louisville RP Nick Burdi (from Downers Grove), probably to Detroit.

The Tigers picked Matt Anderson with the #1 overall pick.
