I think Rodon threw like 140 pitches today. Scumbag college coaches.

Hell of a sports day for me. First the Blackhawks, now UCLA is going back to Omaha for the third time in four years!

Always more sweet when it's against your biggest rivals.

That's pretty amazing. First team from Big 10 since Michigan with Larkin?

Yep - back in 1983 and 1984.

Wow. Cant believe they pulled it off in 2 games. As I said earlier in this thread, I thought they had a good shot to beat FSU, especially after the Noles lost 4 straight at the end of the regular season. But I'm really surprised they actually did it. Hopefully they can get a win at least in Omaha. Vandy is going to be rough though.

Vandy is down 2-0 in an elimination game. You might get Louisville.

I see that. We beat Louisvillein a series this season. Pretty confident if that's the matchup.

Mid-week game too, right? Those aren't that best judge, neither team uses their weekend starters.

(That's besides the obvious that an individual game wouldn't be the best predictor of a future game.)

And down goes Vandy, despite accusing Louisville closer Nick Burdi of doctoring baseballs.

Yeah. Florida was the team they beat in a series earlier this year.

Larkin, Hal Morris, Chris Sabo. I want to say they had a great CF too but I can't remember his name

Easily the worst two things about college baseball on display today - the abuse/overreliance of the best arms in tournament games (UNC's closer is at 50 pitches and he came in in the third inning) and a ridiculous amount of sac bunting (South Carolina had #3 hitter and likely 2014 first rounder Joey Pankake bunt with 2 on and none out in the first against a pitcher who had lost control of the strike zone).

Yeah. Fox is trying to kill all his pitchers. It's pretty easy as an NC State fan to hate on UNC at any point (not that Rodon hasn't been subjected to high pitch counts). But Fox's handling of his pitchers has been pretty despicable.

I'd say postseason high pitch counts for starters is moderately defensible (since college starters are on 6 days rest) as long as they're not coming out of the bullpen a few days later. UNC, Rice, Oregon and Oregon State all racked up high pitch counts on their ace AND brought them back later this weekend.

The abuse of closers (50+ pitches multiple times in a 3-game series) is ridiculous. Nothing beat South Carolina and Virginia both using their closer for 100 pitches in Omaha a couple of years ago.

IU with 2 runners picked off 3rd and another thrown out at the plate. Lead 2-0 going into the 9th.

And our starter is at 130 pitches to start the 9th.
