the craziest part about this start is that we're just about to start getting into the easy part of the schedule. even though they've made up a chunk of that home/road disparity with this homestand, they've been playing good-to-great teams almost exclusively

that win felt so good, though less so due to that gutless forearm by hansen. he better get suspended a long time for that garbage

but yeah, FEELS GOOD to beat those jerks, even if we did almost give it away there. i don't even care about the record or whatever, i just love how good our team is.

hopefully seabrook's change purse starts feeling better soon

There was a report that hossa went to the hospital but Q just said he didn't think he went and he "seemed ok" but who knows if that even means anything.

The more I watch the video, there was no legitimate reason for Hansen to do what he did. Keith got what, five games for elbowing one of the sisters in the head last year? I doubt this douche gets five, but he should get at least three. Clear intent to injure.

that POS said in the locker room that it was a hockey play, that they collided. umm no you gutless clown, you elbowed an elite player in the back of the head on purpose, and then skated backwards when someone tried to hold you accountable. no worries, he'll get his fists. but in the meantime, shanny best do the right thing

at least as bad as what keith did, if not worse, given the context. 5 games min

If any of you guys are wondering about the longest point streak in NHL history (at any point of the season), it's 35 games (!!) set by the 1979-1980 Philadelphia Flyers. So yeah, forget about that.

#Canucks' Hansen on hit on #Blackhawks' Hossa: "I think I kind of grazed him on the back of his shoulders and then he goes down."

I was reading a Canucks message board during the game. They didn't even think that Hansen deserved a penalty, because they said Hansen was reaching for the puck.

@botchford: AV on Hossa hit: It wasn't even a penalty. Both referees, looked at the play, and until Toews went out to talk to them it wasn't a penalty

This is the only part of the Van spin that I agree with. I didn't see an arm up before the scrum happened after Hoss went down.

Hansen probably should not have suggested Hossa took a dive. That's what his guys do.

Hearing at 2:30 today with Shanahan.

in re-watching the video a few times this morning, either hansen was going in there with the intent to do damage or he has the worst hand-eye coordination on earth. if he was playing the puck, he actually could have beat hossa to it. instead, he used the opportunity lunge laterally, forearm-first, into the head of another player. calling something a "hockey play" is just code for "acceptable damage". this isn't acceptable whether it's an elite player like duncan keith or hack like hansen (who, might i add, slashed the [expletive] out of bolland the last meeting, causing him to miss time, as well as pushed toews head-first into the goal post earlier in the game)

while i love to see a little fistacuffs here and there as much as the next meatball, this is a high-speed, high-skill game with no place for this type of buffoonery

yeah, that's actually true. and while the refs do tend to do a piss-poor job of recognition in these situations in general, that was a hard play to see from most angles, so you can't really put the miss on them so much

but this incident is also a reminder of how tragic it is to the game to have a relatively brilliant hockey mind like AV be such an insufferable wench

The opinion out of Toronto this morning on NHL Radio is pretty split. Some calling it a forearm shiver, some seeing nothing wrong.

Not that I'd expect more than five games, but since it's a phone hearing that is the maximum he can get.

I'd be satisfied with three.

Duncan Keith got 5 games for his hit on Sedin last year because it was "dangerous and reckless". Surely clocking a guy in the back of the head that already missed half a season due to a concussion is "dangerous and reckless".

I'll be disappointed with less than 5 games.

I'd expect more of this kind of thing, since obviously the entire league has no other way to stop the Blackhawks.

I think there ought to be an additional fine or suspension every time someone tries to justify a dirty hit as a "hockey play".

I missed almost the entire game due to DVR fail so I didn't see the play live. In the replays Hansen misses the puck by 4 feet and his elbow hits Hossa in the back of the head. This is pretty transparent revenge for Keith's hit on Thing2 last season.

He deserves 5 but will get 3. If he gets less than that Bollig will probably kill him next time they play.
