at least we can shoot at the empty net now without icing

First game I watched all year. 3rd period sucked, but this team looks a lot more "together" than last year. Seems like they have worked pretty hard at dictating the game tempo. I don't claim to know very much about hockey, but it seemed like the last couple years they were trying to play with more physicality than they should be instead of focusing on what they do best and that's attack with quickness.

if they get a point on tuesday they'll tie the reocrd for most games without a regulation loss to start a season

First game I've seen since the Stanley Cup clincher.

Still trying to come back from the Roenick/Balfour/Chelios exodus.

That group never won the Cup, so get back in here :)

This team is so ridiculous, I have to be worried about peaking too early. Still, it's really fun to turn on a Blackhawks game just expecting victory -- without question. And getting it every time.

This year the refs are calling interference a lot more strictly and that has helped the Hawks use their speed where last year the opposing team would just have 3 guys waiting at their own blue line and keep the Hawks forwards from getting to a dump in. It will be interesting to see how opposing coaches try to slow the Hawks down. The only thing that's worked so far is being really aggressive and trying to speed up the game (like the Kings did in the 3rd period) but in a game where they don't have a lead that would play right into the Hawks hands.

i'm coming back to chicago for a few days in april and looking to purchase tickets for the red wings game on 4/12 on stubhub. i've only been to the united center twice and never for a bulls/blackhawks game. for those who go there to see hockey and basketball games, what are the better 300 level sections to sit in?

I've only sat in the 300 level once for the Hawks gane, but can't really imagine there being that many bad seats. I would just go with the obvious signs like closer to front and closer to center ice.

Part of the thrill of the hawks is just the stadium atmosphere. Its hard to follow a puck from the 300 level.

Just a casual hockey fan's one game opinion though.

Last time I was at the UC, which happened to be Game 5 of the Nashville series in 2010, we were in the upper bowl, on the end about six rows from the ceiling. And it was great.

Sure it's far away, but as was said, the atmosphere makes it and it's so loud up there.

I forgot that the Hawks finished last season (pre-playoffs) really strong.

Apparently, the Hawks are 24-2-7 in the regular season since trading for Johnny Oduya on Feb 27th last year. Even if you include the playoffs thats 26-3-10. Thats amazing. In their last 39 games (9 days short of a full calendar year, aided by a lengthy lockout of course), the Hawks have lost in regulation only 3 times. 3/6 @ STL (1-5), 3/26 vs. NAS (1-6), 4/23 vs. PHX (playoffs, 0-4).

Hardly noticed who our sixth defenseman was yesterday. That's a good sign for Brookbank.

Chicago market delivered a 6.7, the market’s best ever rating for the NHL regular season on NBC, excluding Winter Classics (since 2006).

I wonder if dead Bill Wirtz knows how wrong he was about the blackout policy.

I guess Schneider is starting then

If not, forecast calls for Chelsea Dagger early and often tomorrow.

That stupid little bitch. Talk it up, oh great cupless one.

a 6.7? wow, hockey, of all things, could save NBC

Well in fairness that was just Chicago. I think I saw it was a 1.3 nationally, which is still good for hockey on NBC, but not earth-shattering.

If I were them, I'd want that too since I'd rather not be the team that has to play the Hawks right after their first loss.

Schnieder starting tonight for the Nucks.

Well that takes some of the fun out of this one.

Too bad about Seabrook but this is why they brought in Rozsival and Brookbank.
