Someone tell me why I shouldn't start getting excited about this team. Wow.

When was the last Presidents Cup winner to win the Cup

'07/'08 Wings. Hasn't been *that* long.

Plus, the Canucks made the finals in '10/'11, but lost because they're the Canucks and doomed to fail.

Seeing Smith get run out of the game was more satisfying to me than seeing Torres get smacked around by Mayers. Hopefully, all that is behind them though I suspect they'll also send Bollig after him when they play at the UC.

On to other Hawks things:

I'll pose this question: Is Brookbank really that bad or does he just look bad compared to everyone else on the team? He's clearly, at best, the 6th defenseman on the team but considering how well 1-5 are playing, he has almost no chance of looking good by comparison. For all his shortcomings, he seems to have had a steadying influence on Leddy and has freed him up to join the rush.

I think Brookbank has been more than serviceable and has improved since his first few games. But you're right our top 5 are so good he's going to look bad by comparison.

I was just playing, usually the Presidents winner comes from a weak division, so they are probably over-rated some going into the playoffs. I do not think the Central is a weak division this season. So if the Hawks win the Presidents Cup, I do not think it would be some fluke.

Foley has gotten me laugh several times recently. I forget the exact play, the Hawks had the puck in the Coyotes zone and the puck kinda squirted away, and Foley just deadpans..."oops". I dunno, struck me funny at the moment.

Pat and Dale were hilarious. I think his act with Eddie has gotten pretty stale though he does still have his moments.

And for straight call of the game, there aren't many better.

How are they so good?

Lockdown D. It's really reminiscent of 2010 how they are just so good at keeping teams to the outside and clearing the zone. Still some turnovers but it's rare.

And lets be honest everything is going our way. Opponents aren't burying so many open chances.

So...22 of 24 points against arguably the hardest schedule so far in the NHL (considering time on the road).

That's...pretty good.

Haha I figured if the Blackhawks were around .500 after the brutal 10 in 12 on the road start, I'd be satisfied. I certainly didn't expect the Hawks to be undefeated in regulation, 10-0-2 overall, have a 7 point lead in the division and 3 more points than any other team in the NHL after this stretch.

How are they so good?

Every question going into the season has been a yes

Can Crawford play like he did 2 years ago? yes

Can Hjammer and Oduya hold up as the 2nd pairing? yes

Is Nick Leddy going to take the next step? yes

Are Toews and Hossa fully recovered? yes

While some people say Kane has been pretty lucky so far, Sharp has been very unlucky hitting the post seemingly once a game.
