Kaepernick and Wilson are going to terrorize my Rammies for the next 10 years. I hate the NFL.

Ironic, given how Bradford had 10x the hype of Kaepernick and Wilson combined at draft time.

For a long time, the pocket passer has been king- Manning, Brady, Brees. Mobile QB's have shown promise in the past, but never more than a few guys, often guys with flaws in the passing game. Now there are a few mobile QB's on the verge of being elite QB's. Let's see if it gains more momentum.

Anyone else think the Giants would be on their way to winning it all again if they somehow sneaked into the playoffs? And Lovie and the Bears would've gotten their asses handed to them by the Niners again. Good thing that didn't happen.

Anyone understand why Atlanta was a 2 or 3 point favorite over Seattle last weekend but is a 3.5 point underdog to SF this weekend?

I know SF looked really good this weekend but Seattle was considered to be one of the best teams (if not the best) but some metrics and Atlanta was still favored in that game.

Yeah that seems odd.

Not really when you factor in all the components that went into it. Early game on the east coast for a west coast team, 2nd trip across the country in two weeks, slow start against Washington and probably bailed out by RGIII getting hurt, rookie QB, Atlanta being a pretty good team playing at home.

Mobile QBs don't have a very good track record as far as longevity goes in the NFL unless they show that they can also stay in the pocket and read defenses. Def. Coordinators will always be able to figure out how to contain a running QB. When that happens they have to show the ability to check down in order to be elite players.

I think it's the run option that gives Colin a leg up. When the defense has to worry about TWO potential runners AND a potential pass on every play, it's tough to cheat up or know who to contain

Well Atlanta will still be at home, the 49ers will be traveling almost as far as Seattle did (not sure if they have the late or early game), albeit not 2 weeks in a row.

Seattle just destroyed SF less than a month ago...what you mentioned doesn't make up a huge 8.5 point gap between last weeks line and this weeks in my mind. I think it has more to do with SF a) being a more national team with more bettors, and b) beating GB, another national team, soundly the previous week. Still seems like an high line though overall.

NFL bettors only remember the last thing they saw.

The more ridiculous line IMO is Ravens +9 @ NE. Gronk would have really posed a matchup problem for them.

I believe the NFC game is at 2:30 or 3:00

It's at 3. Playing at 12 noon body-clock time isn't really a big deal so I suspect that plays into the line as well.

my Rammies

I always forgot the Rams existed, but thanks to this post I will now loathe them with a fire made of pure hate.

That's pretty weird.

Ironic, given how Bradford had 10x the hype of Kaepernick and Wilson combined at draft time.

Well, I wouldn't call that ironic, but people had every right to be skeptical of Wilson.

Looks like I wasn't the only one having Vietnam flashbacks to that stupid Bears-Falcons game.

Cute timeout, Pete Carroll.

Also, not sure why ATL took a timeout with :13 instead of letting the clock run down.

I have to imagine Atlanta called that time out with the thought that maybe they could run one more out pattern to shorten up the field for the field goal. But, during the timeout decided the risk wasn't worth it.

What an amazing weekend of football. Denver deserved to lose when their "prevent defense" didn't prevent exactly what the prevent defense is designed to prevent, and no, that is not too many prevents in one sentence. :D

I argued that Denver had more than enough time to get into field goal range with :31 and two time outs remaining and Atlanta actually proved it in their game.

Happy to see that the Packers will enjoy the rest of these playoffs from the couch.

And finally, hopefully this will be the last we see of icing the kicker. Giving a kicker more time to prepare for the one job he gets paid handsomely to do is one of the dumbest things I've seen in this sport.

First, it's a 5.5 or 6.5 point difference. Second, for some reason I was thinking the game was in SF. And yeah, the last thing you did definitely plays into these lines big time. With the Atlanta collapse and near loss combined with SF's domination of GB, there's a little more reason to it.

I meant the Alanis Morissette definition of the word.

Nearly 87 percent of all televisions that were on in the Seattle market were tuned to the end of the Seahawks-Falcons game, according to the Seattle Times.

The game drew a 45.6 rating and a 79 share (the percentage of televisions in use) for the entire game, translating to nearly 1.5 million viewers in the Seattle-Tacoma area.

But many running QB's can't pass worth a damn
