Yeah, one of that group will still be there. I can't hit 4000 points, no matter what I do. On the other hand, I drafted 6 punters and scored 600ish......

I got 4100 this morning. I got Ogletree, Eifert, and Warford all in the 2nd round then Zach Ertz, Sly Williams, and Terrence Williams in the 3rd then Barrett Jones in the 4th. Then other picks as well. It just seems like if you want really high points total (4000+), you get the BPA (out of the best value list) each pick. Doesn't matter if you get 3 WRs or whatever. You also need to gain a couple more picks if you're the Bears to get that high.

Emery has thoughts on the draft:

As to the draft, Emery said the Bears had five or six players they would like at No. 20 and two or three they would hope fall to them.

Emery said teams have approached the Bears about trading down but "things don't get serious till the draft," meaning it likely wouldn't happen until the Bears are on the clock.

Emery identified cornerback, safety, defensive line and offensive line as positions of strength and depth in the draft, adding that wide receivers and tight ends were "above average."

As to whether the Bears would draft a quarterback with starter Jay Cutler entering the final year of his contract, Emery said Cutler's status would have no impact on draft decisions but said he'd "like to draft a quarterback every year."

"I'm not ruling out interest in any position or any player," Emery said.

Emery defended his decision to re-sign Josh McCown as Cutler's backup, saying, "I'm more than comfortable that he can get on the field and help us win."

Asked about his meeting with linebacker Manti Te'o, Emery said, "I found Manti to be a very good person, a very squared-away guy."

Regarding a possible return of free-agent linebacker Brian Urlacher, Emery said he wouldn't say "never" but that the focus was on moving ahead.

"There was no lack of clarity, there were no surprises," Emery said of the Urlacher negotiations. "Brian's been a great player. ... In the end, we just could not agree on what that amount (of his value) was. It's not more than that."

Emery said he was "disappointed" in tight end/fullback Evan Rodriguez, who was arrested recently on a resisting-arrest charge. He said there was no plans to shift Roberto Garza from center back to guard and said the team still is talking with free-agent defensive lineman Israel Idonije.

Not a bad draft. I know its unrealstic, but I just want to fill so many areas with depth DT, CB, LB, WR, OG but you just can't do it in one draft. If we can pick up one extra top 75-90pick it will be a good thing.

Ah, that makes sense. Their BPA. I've gotten Menelik Watson as far back as middle of the 3rd round, but still got a B- for the pick. They must really hate him.

They ding you a ton if you trade away your future picks too. I traded the 2014 and 2015 1sts, plus our 4-7 round picks to KC, took Joeckel, traded back 3 times and still got Warmack, Hopkins, Brown, and Jamar Taylor out of it, but scored under 2500. And yeah, it timed out on me this morning as well.

Bears signed G/RT Eben Britton from Jacksonville today. One year deal. Another solid depth move. Trestman said today in his press conference that he looks at Carimi as a guard.

I can't get past thinking that Hester is trade bait. It really doesn't make sense that he's strictly a returner, and that they will pay him to be a returner only. I have to think they are trying to dangle him in all draft trade scenarios where they wind up with multiple picks between their current 1 and 4.

I read somewhere (probably here) that James Anderson was taking Singletary's old number, DJ Williams appears to be wearing Wilbur Marshall's old number, and Briggs wears Otis Wilson's number. Might create a few fond memories the first time they all line up on defense together.

Yeah...lots of meatball whining about that. Can't retire every number from the 85 Bears.

You really can't retire more than a couple. There are rules about what numbers players can use. There are 90 players on offseason rosters, 53 guys on the regular roster and as many as 60+ players on your roster at any point in the season. They already have more than 10 numbers retired so you start under 90 available to begin with.

What was the reasoning behind WR's having numbers in the teens the past odd number of years? Are there some NFL teams that have too may 80 numbers retired and they needed another group of numbers to pull from? Not enough 80 numbers for all the guys in camp?

It would make sense that they would need 10 more numbers or so since TE's and WR's share the 80's.

Looks like Carimi decided to dive head first into the full on white trash offensive lineman look.

That or it's just not him. What number is that guy wearing? Looks like it starts with a 6 (or at least, not a 7) and Carimi had been wearing 72 (68 in college, though).

Yeah...that's definitely Slauson, not Carimi.

Don't remember, but maybe had something to do with the expansion of the passing game, and thus more receivers being on rosters. The teens were pretty much just QB's before, right?

Might have been a few punters or kickers with those numbers, but yeah, pretty much just the QB's. I seem to recall guys sharing numbers in camp and then at roster cuts, guys would switch to available numbers if they surprisingly made the team.

I could be wrong, but it seems like KeyShawn Johnson was the first guy to wear a teens number.

Oops. Thought it was a different look for Carimi, but didn't know who else it might be.

He was the first and only for a long time.

They should just go to college rules. Down lineman 50-79. Eligible Receivers. 1-49, 80-89. Defense, doesn't matter.

Carimi is slimmer(weaker looking) and walks around with a limp on his bad knee.
