I've been outta town last couple days and forgot to post but...

There were the 4 most annoying Packer fan fat sows behind me at the game last Sunday. They squealed at every stupid 2 yard gain and made sure you heard every word they said for 3 hours. Also dressed in those ridiculous stripped pants/bibs.

Let's just say the owner of those seats is gonna get a lot of [expletive] next time he shows up.

Yea, I don't get the Campbell criticism. Although he didn't do much, I'm not blaming that solely on him, as our offense is just bad. We needed a better backup QB and he looked like he could fill that roll, and as it turned out we needed a backup because Cutler keeps getting crushed. Sure if Jay goes out for the year it doesn't matter, but you want a guy who can not blow it for a game or two because playoff chances, and further, home field chances are going to come down to a game difference many times.

The best way to get a backup QB is to draft one in the middle rounds - they don't cost much and the chance of finding a decent backup is about as good as finding one on the FA market. It's a complete waste of salary cap to sign a mediocre FA; as goony said, the Bears could have spent that money elsewhere. And to top it all, Campbell sucked.

I think the Bears need to go for pure mobility for their #2 QB. Not Tebow but someone who can run for his life with this OL. After seeing running QBs make big plays with their legs all year, it would be a nice way to do something about a terrible weakness and move the ball when someone other than Cutler is in there.

I'm not criticizing Campbell. I'm criticizing the stupidity of the plan that said, "hey let's ignore the starting line that plays every down when the team is on offense and rather waste millions on a backup QB who if he plays, the team is doomed anyway."

Oh FFS, just stop talking guys....

“I understand where he’s coming from,” Briggs said. “I’ve been here for a long time, too and I’ve seen a lot of boos. For a lot of the wrong reasons. Nobody, on any team that I’ve ever been on, gets booed more at home than here in Chicago. That’s also a point to the passion of the Chicago fans.”

“Everyone is passionate, but everyone in Chicago doesn’t know how to run a football team. Everyone doesn’t know how to play professional football. It’s our job to do that,” Briggs said.

These guys always seem to need some outside force to insult them and make them better, so if they want to pretend the fans here are rougher on the home team's mistakes than any other fans in the sport, then so be it. Just get the freaking job done. I don't need your respect. Just a win.

Agreed. I'm very understanding of guys that are winning.

Did Cambell really effect our ability to improve the line though? I'm not sure of what deals were signed of comparable value that would have netted a good OL. And the Bears weren't right up against the cap were they? Theres plenty of places you can find dollars if you needed to. I'm not placing our OL troubles on allocating too much to QB. It's its own problem that could have been addressed.

It's a salary cap league and he cost lots of money, so obviously, yes he did. They chose to sign him and chose not to upgrade anything on the line. That was a foolish mistake.

I know this is overly simplistic, but you can't blame Campbell. The system sucks, the playcalling sucks, and most of the personnel sucks.

What allows a guy like Kaepernick or Kirk Cousins to step in and be successful right off? Neither would have that kind of success if they were on the Bears.

It amazes me how much people miss the point of it not being about Campbell but about wasting money on a veteran backup and ignoring the line.

Even so, I think a young mobile QB has a lot better chance of having some success with this team than an old slow guy with shot arm and slow release.

Regardless of the backup, he wasn't going to be as good as Cutler and the Bears probably were going win less with that guy than Cutler. So why spend worthwhile money on someone u don't want to have to play in the first place.

How much was he signed for? I have to think he cost less than any starting-caliber lineman that would have impacted the line's performance this year. One lineman (besides maybe an elite LT) isn't going to make a difference on this line anyways. They're all weak links and need to be replaced (besides maybe Louis).

But with someone like Hanie, they literally had no chance of winning a single game. The backup will never be as good as the starter, but it's not hard to see how, from Emery's perspective, signing someone like Campbell was a quick and easy fix of a gaping hole.

A fix that didn't fix a damn thing.

It was the simpleton's way out, not a smart strategic decision for an organization in need of a hell of a lot more before addressing the backup QB situation with serious money.

$3.5 million is a lot of money in a cap world. Combine that with the unnecessary Michael Bush money and it's ridiculous how much money was wasted this offseason without addressing anything that needed to be addressed. Every smart team knows RBs are replaceable bodies.

I'm more ok with the Michael Bush money than the Campbell money.

Plus, there's always the added bonus of landing a Schaub, Flynn, Cousins type QB that can turn into an assett for you.

As am I. If they would have addressed the line the Bush signing would have seemed like a nice bonus. But they blame short yardage problems on who is the RB and yet no matter who the RB is they've sucked in short yardage for quite a while.

I have absolutely zero confidence in the Bear's ability to develop an NFL QB from the draft. Given the holes on this team, wasting a middle round pick on a QB would be horrible. Campbell was too expensive, but I'd much rather spend $1.5 million on a serviceable veteran.

Bush was a lot better at short yardage when healthy though. He at least picked a spot an hit it hard. Forte runs into the back of his own lineman too much, trying to let them do the work.

But I think we're on the same page here.
