using espn's playoff machine, the bengals are likely to get to 10 wins but miss the playoffs.

let's hope ben's ribs never recover

I think that scenario is pretty unlikely. The Colts are 50/50 at best to get to 10 wins (probably worse than that). And the Steelers or Bengals loser would have to win out to make it to 10-6, which doesn't seem all that likely either. If any of the AFC teams make it to 10-6 or better they have the inside track on the 5 seed IMO.

you don't think the colts can win 3 games with buf, @ det, ten, @ hou, @kc and a possibly resting-their-starters hou remaining? i'd say they're 70-30 to win at least 3, with ten and @kc definite wins, and very possible wins vs buf, @ det, and a week 17 game vs. hou.

The Colts game with Buffalo was last week and already figures into their record. As Exile said, Ten and @KC are likely wins, but they're hardly definite. The Colts have red zone and turnover issues on both sides of the ball. That's an easy formula to play down to the level of your competition.

I think the Colts chance of losing one of those games is roughly equal to their chances of winning at Detroit this weekend. So it comes down to week 17 to see if they can get 10. Houston did rest some starters last year, so if they clinch they probably will do so again. But that is probably dependent on if Houston can beat NE in a couple of weeks.

After looking it over, maybe I was a little bearish on their chances of getting to 10. I might be willing to actually call it 50/50, but I wouldn't go any higher than that.

The Lions deactivated receiver Titus Young on Thanksgiving Day for bad behavior that had led to in-fighting among the coaching staff. Young was allowed back on the practice field Wednesday, as a second-team receiver. The Lions never provided the specifics that resulted in Young’s team-imposed ban, but Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press has them.

Per Birkett, Young purposely lined up in the wrong place on the field “multiple times” during the Lions’ Week Eleven loss to Green Bay. He also “mouthed off” to receivers coach Shawn Jefferson before being benched for the final possession. Apparently upset that he wasn’t getting enough passes thrown his way, Young responded by attempting to sabotage the Lions’ passing offense.

the lesson is i'm a dummy.

What a [expletive] idiot, assuming it's true

Shouldn't he be described as Young Sr, like on his jersey, so we don't confuse him with his infant child?

This article is way more fun if you just skip to the comments. Here's a gem:

RG3 is stat man and Luck is the WIN man. just like college. he can have rookie of the year, ill take the wins....its that simple. all of the attention and focus being on players like Newton and RG3 ULTIMATELY harm the TEAMS performance..not help it...at the pro level anyway, where egos and money and etc get in the way.....Luck shaved his head for his coach for Christ sake. and has the absolute WORST team in the league (actually) playing at a playoff level....that's unprecedented. Rg3's stats aren't unprecedented....find me ONE rookie QB that took a team from 2-14 (with the worst D and running game in the league to the playoffs....)....there HAS NOT been one. Luck will be the first..how's that for a precedent.....Luck gets ROY in my opinion...but if not, I will gladly compare these two 15 years from now.

and I am quite sure Luck will be on top in the WINS category. case closed

You know I was about to dismiss everything this guy was saying in his argument, then he mentioned Luck shaved his head for his coach and sold me. You can't measure things like that and how many more wins it brings a team. Case closed.

As the season's end draws closer the comments are going to be wackier and wackier, and when RGIII wins, I expect complete chaos to ensue.

I mean, just look at what Luck did against Buffalo -- at home! -- 20/37, 240 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 4 sacks and he had the know-how to properly line up his team at the goal line for a spike with time running down. These things were pretty much absent from Barnwell's article.

Yeah, it's going to be meatheads after meatheads churning out their garbage for Luck's favor. I think there is a legit case to be made that, yes, in the long run Luck will be better and the guy you want 10 years from now, but right now RGIII is better and it's not all that close. He's doing it with lesser talent too.

meatballs. some meatheads are meatballs but there is no significant correlation.

Same [expletive], different stink. But yes it was a typo, meant meatballs.

I’m also pretty sure less than 1.3 percent of NFL quarterbacks have tattoos. There’s a reason for that.

Because they're all white and only black prisoners and basketball playing thugs have tats.

And the best part is that Alex Smith has a tattoo. Also, Brett Favre, Ben Roethlisberger, and Phillip Rivers have tattoos to name a few.
