Yeah, no. Many, many ND fans had this reaction on the season: "Nice job, Brian. Now run the damn football." There's a lot of folks who still think he's small timey. Hard to see what would ever please them if this season didn't.

It sounds like this was a negotiating ploy. But even if he really wants to go to the NFL, the job looks pretty [expletive] good right now. So we'd be ok.

Michigan OT Taylor Lewan coming back. Mild surprise as he was a projected top 10notch pick.

HUGE surprise

but he got to conduct the band at tonight's game so obviously he made the right choice

Wow. I was so sure he'd be one that I forgot he even had eligibility left.

Sounds like he has a 2nd interview set up for this weekend once he gets back in the States. That sounds like lore than just negotiating.

I think you'd be losing a great coach, and it would come a few weeks before National Signing Day. There's a chance your recruiting class could fall apart with no coach right before signing.

It would be devastating to the recruiting class, no doubt. Both players and recruits don't seem worried, though, so hopefully they know something the reporters don't. Kelly's agent also represents some of the ESPN reporters, too, which is interesting.

I still don't think it'll amount to more than a pay raise for Kelly.

I think you're overreacting. Most players don't pick a school b/c of a coach. Might some recruits look? Maybe. But ND could promote either of their two coordinators, even if on an interim basis, and very little would change. Martin has been on Kelly's staff for over a decade. Diaco has been with him for ~5 years and was associated with half a dozen HC positions this winter.

And that assumes there's mutual interest.

Yes. If he made the decision in 24 hours and enrolled that would be amazing and impossible. He has been the least stable recruit all year. This has nothing to do with the eagles.

Watching the other recruits publicly call him out instead of the usual "has to do what's best for him" line confirms the rumor that the other guys never felt he was all in. I'd love to have him as he'd probably be in the MLB 2-deep as of next Tuesday when classes start, but I'd rather he leave now than on NSD or after enrolling.

Mike Farrell ‏@rivalsmike

Alex Anzalone will enroll at #Florida tomorrow, he is de-committed from #NotreDame due to the Brian Kelly interview w Eagles.

He's the only source to claim that, so I'd like to see something to back that up besides timing.

Farrell has about as much credibility as you do on this topic.

Would make good cover for Anzalone though. Oh I was totally solid until and NFL team called Kelly. No HC of mine will ever be a candidate for an NFL job. Nosiree. I know Will Muschamp isn't going anywhere. He's solid as a...hey Will, why you talking to Texas in 2014 when Mack retires...

About Alex Anzalone's state of mind? That's wasn't intended to be an attack on your general credibility. I thought that was clear.
